Sunil Jakhar doesn’t reply to party high command notice, deadline ends

Chandigarh: Former Punjab Congress president Sunil Jakhar did not respond to the notice sent by the high command. The one week period of the notice elapsed on Monday and now the Congress high command is planning to summon him to Delhi, a senior Congress leader said. However Jakhar who is furious with the attitude of the party and is likely also leave the party in coming days.

Jakhar had already taken the edge off active politics. Jakhar is a Hindu leader of the Congress in Punjab. He had however refused to contest the recently held assembly election. While the impact of Jakhar’s displeasure was seen in the elections, Hindu voters in the cities distanced themselves from the Congress.

Jakhar was issued a notice for his controversial remarks about former chief minister Charanjit Channi. Jakhar says he is more upset with his some colleagues than the Congress high command who had created a rift in the Congress by giving wrong feedback to the high command in the last elections.
