New Delhi: The Delhi Police has arrested a man from Bangalore for allegedly urinating on a woman co-passenger on board an Air India flight.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Airport) Ravi Kumar Singh said, “A team of Delhi Police has arrested Shankar Mishra, an accused in the IGIA case, from Bangalore. He has been brought to Delhi and the matter is being investigated.”

Mishra had allegedly urinated on an elderly woman in an inebriated state in the business class of an Air India flight from New York to Delhi on November 26 last year.

He was also fired by his company.

New Delhi: Singapore Airlines on Tuesday said its partner carrier Vistara will merge with Tata Group’s Air India.

The Tata group holds 51 per cent stake in Vistara. The remaining 49 per cent is held by Singapore Airlines (SIA).

Under this merger deal, SIA will also invest Rs 2,058.5 crore in Air India.

“The deal will take SIA’s stake in Air India, which has a good presence in all major markets, to 25.1 per cent,” Singapore Airlines said in a release. SIA and Tata aim to complete the merger by March 2024. It also depends on regulatory approvals. ’

Washington: The US government has imposed a $1.4 million fine on Air India for delay in refunding tickets to passengers affected by flight cancellations or changes in their timings during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The US Department of Transportation said Air India is one of the six airlines that have been directed to refund a total of $ 600 million to passengers. Air India has also been asked to return $ 121.5 million.

New Delhi: After the country’s leading aviation company Air India went into the hands of the Tata Group, its new updates are constantly coming out. To increase its capacity, Air India plans to add 25 narrow-body Airbus and 5 Boeing wide-body aircraft to its existing fleet. This will increase Air India’s fleet by more than 25 percent.

Air India to induct 30 new aircraft later this year

Air India has signed leases and letters of intent for 25 Airbus narrow-body and 5 Boeing wide-body aircraft, which will join service from the end of 2022. These new aircraft will now expand the fleet after the Tata group acquired Air India earlier this year. The aircraft being leased include twenty-one Airbus A320Nion, four A321 Neon and five Boeing B777-200LRs.

Air India’s new aircraft will run on these routes

According to the airline, the B777-200LR will join the fleet between December 2022 and March 2023, and will be deployed for US flight service from Indian cities. There will be flights to Mumbai San Francisco as well as both international airports in the New York region, Newark Liberty and John F Kennedy, while flights from Bangalore to San Francisco will run three days a week. Due to these aircraft, Air India will offer premium economy flights for the first time.

New Delhi: Air India will make arrangements to inform passengers in advance about the change or delay in the flight schedule. The company will also set up a coordination team to resolve issues related to the airport. This has been said in an internal notification issued by the company. In an internal communication, Air India Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director Campbell Wilson said the airline will seek an airport ‘slot’ for improvement.

“It is difficult to meet all the changes that the airline wants at the ‘slot’ level this season, but we know what we have to do. We will move forward in this matter session after session.

The airline, which has an 8.4 per cent share in the domestic market in July, will also set up an airport/centre control/regional control coordination team to better understand airport-related issues,” He added.

New Delhi: The A320 Neo aircraft of Tata Group-owned Air India had to make an emergency landing at Mumbai airport just 27 minutes after take-off as one of its engines was stopped functioning in the air due to a technical snag.

An Air India spokesperson said the passengers were sent to their destination Bangalore by another aircraft later. Aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation is investigating the incident, sources said.

New Delhi: Following closure of Ukrainian airspace after Russian military, an air India plane that took off Kyiv in Ukraine to bring back stranded Indians on Thursday returned back from the eastern European nation.

Air India departed from Delhi on Thursday morning, however, Ukrainian authorities issued notice to airmen announcing that aircraft within Ukraine are restricted due to potential hazard for civil aviation.

Due to this, Indian government decided to call back the Air India flight AI 1947 to Delhi.

The development came amid rising tensions in Ukraine after Russia announced a military operation in the Ukraine.

New Delhi: Tata Sons is believed to have been selected as the final bidder for the debt-laden state-run airline Air India, the media reports said.

A panel of ministers accepted a proposal from officials recommending the salt-to-software conglomerate ahead of an offer from Ajay Singh, promoter of India’s airline operator Spicejet Ltd, the report said.

The move came after the Prime Minister Narendra Modi led union government has proposed to sell its entire interest in the loss-making airline, kept aloft by a bailout since 2012.

According to the government, it had lossabout 200 million rupees every day to manage the national carrier that has accumulated losses of over 700 billion rupees ($9.53 billion).
