New Delhi: In the Agneepath recruitment scheme case, the central government has got a big victory in the Delhi High Court. The court declared the central government’s Agneepath scheme valid.

At the same time, petitions challenging the validity of the Agneepath scheme were dismissed.

A bench of Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Subramaniam Prasad gave its verdict on this matter.

Earlier, the Delhi High Court had reserved its verdict on the matter on December 15 last year.

During the hearing, the central government supported the Agneepath scheme. The Agneepath scheme for recruitment of youth in the armed forces was launched on June 14 last year.

As per the rules of the scheme, people between the age of 17 and a half to 21 years are eligible to apply and they will be included for a four-year term. Under the scheme, the service of 25 per cent of them will be regularised.

After the launch of Agneepath, protests started in many states against this scheme.

Later, the government increased the upper age limit for recruitment to 23 years in 2022. Petitions were filed in many high courts, including the Delhi High Court, regarding this matter. Later, the Supreme Court ordered the transfer of these petitions to the Delhi High Court.
