New Delhi: The Gurdwara Karta Parwan area in Afghanistan’s capital Kabul was attacked by armed assailants belonging to ISIS this morning.

Three explosions have been carried out in the gurudwara and two persons are feared dead and three others injured. The Sikhs living in Kabul were informed about the attack over the phone by the manager of the gurdwara Gurnam Singh.

Meanwhile, BJP leader Gurwinder Singh Sirsa said that he has spoken to the manager of the gurdwara Gurnam Singh over the phone. According to the manager, the attack took place at 6 am when the granthi of the gurdwara was entering the gurdwara to perform ‘prakash’. The attackers also triggered a blast in the gurdwara and the gurdwara is currently in the possession of the attackers. Meanwhile some people have also been held captive on the second floor of the gurdwara.

According to Sirsa it is not yet clear how many people have died in the attack. Indian World Forum president Puneet Singh also said that according to manager Gurnam Singh there has been a major attack on the gurdwara.

According to news agency Reuters, there were 30 people in the gurudwara at the time of the attack.

India’s ministry of external affairs has expressed concern over the attack on the gurdwara in Kabul. The ministry has tweeted that the situation is being monitored and information about other details of the incident is being sought.
