Melbourne: In a fatal road accident, four Punjabi-origin youth died in Melbourne. The deceased have been identified as Harpal Singh of Sri Muktsar Sahib, Baljinder Singh and Kishan Singh of Tarn Taran and Bhupinder Kumar of Jalandhar. Harjinder Bhullar, who survived the accident, is undergoing treatment at the hospital.

During preliminary investigation, it was found that the car occupants did not wear seat belts and all these youths had come to Australia from Punjab on visitor visas.

The state police is investigating the accident from the angle of negligence. DNA samples have also been taken today to determine the identity of the bodies of the youth killed in the accident.

Social worker Phulwinderjit Singh Grewal said the families have decided to take the bodies to Punjab and paperwork has been initiated in this regard.

The documents of the vehicle involved in the accident were complete, so the government will release the fixed amount for the last rites.

New Delhi: A large number of people are on a trip to Australia during the holiday season. Therefore, Australians travelling from the country’s major airports have been warned to wait longer and expect a possible delay. According to local media reports, security queues began to lengthen at some airports on Friday and some people missed their flights, news agency reported.

In a statement issued last week, Sydney Airport Chief Executive Officer Geoff Culbert said the airport is expecting the busiest holiday period since 2019, with more than 2.2 million people passing through the terminals from December 12 to January 1, 2023. Culbert said passengers need to arrive two hours before departure for domestic flights and three hours earlier for international flights, as there is less staff to control potential crowds.

Stephen Beckett, head of public affairs at Brisbane Airport in queensland state, said 14,300 people will travel through the international terminal on Friday, many of whom will try to return home or visit family before Saturday.
