New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister of Australia H.E. Scott Morrison will hold the second India-Australia Virtual Summit on March 21.

The Summit follows the historic first Virtual Summit of 4 June 2020 when the relationship was elevated to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

During the upcoming virtual summit, the Leaders will take stock of progress made on various initiatives under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The virtual summit will lay the way forward on new initiatives and enhanced cooperation in a diverse range of sectors between India and Australia.

The Leaders are expected to commit to closer cooperation in trade, critical minerals, migration and mobility, and education, among others.

Views on regional and international issues of mutual interest will also be discussed by the Leaders. The Summit highlights the importance attached by both countries to their bilateral relations as also their close cooperation on regional and global issues.

The India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership has maintained the momentum of an upward trajectory with both countries continuing to collaborate closely, despite the Covid-19 pandemic, in wide-ranging areas including science and technology, defence, cyber, critical and strategic materials, water resource management, as well as public administration and governance.

Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister Morrison met in Washington DC for the first in-person meeting after the Covid-19 pandemic in September 2021 on the margins of the Quad Leaders’ Summit and jointly launched the Infrastructure for Resilient Island States (IRIS) in Glasgow on the margins of the COP26 in November 2021.

New Delhi: The top two teams in the ICC World Test Championship standings do battle in Karachi and both Pakistan and Australia will re-shuffle their sides.

After a dull draw in the opening Test of the series in Rawalpindi both sides will make changes to their team for their meeting in Karachi.

Just 14 wickets fell across five days play in that historic series opener and all parties will be hoping for a better prepared pitch for the second Test, after the corresponding pitch in Rawalpindi received a ‘below average’ rating from the ICC.

With a pitch more conducive to five-day cricket likely for the second Test, both teams will inject some fresh faces into their line-up in an attempt to gain a positive result.

Pakistan may look to re-shuffle their pace attack with Hasan Ali, Haris Rauf and all-rounder Faheem Ashraf all in contention to feature, while Australia are expected to include a second spinner should conditions suit.

Uncapped leg-spinner Mitchell Swepson may win the nod to partner the experienced Nathan Lyon, while left-armer Ashton Agar could also be given a chance to impress.

History suggests Pakistan will be hard to beat in this contest, with the hosts having won 23 and lost just two of the 43 Tests they have played at the National Stadium.

Conversely Australia have a poor record at the venue and are yet to claim a Test match victory from eight attempts at the ground.

Australia currently sits on top of the ICC World Test Championship standings with a 77.77 win percentage, while Pakistan is second on a 66.66 win percentage.

New Delhi: New Zealand and West Indies will get the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022 underway on Friday in Mount Maunganui when they face off in the opening game of the tournament.

Only three nations have ever won a Women’s Cricket World Cup, and New Zealand are one of those courtesy of their 2000 triumph on home soil.

New Delhi: Australia are touring Pakistan for the first time in 24 years. It’s a multi-format series, starting on 4 March in Rawalpindi with the first of three Tests. The subsequent two Tests will be played in Karachi from 12-16 March and in Lahore from 21-25 March respectively.

The sides will also contest a three-match ODI series thereafter – all matches will be played in Rawalpindi – before the tour ends with a one-off T20I in Rawalpindi on 5 April.

New Delhi: Australia have been dealt a big blow on the eve of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup with news that star all-rounder Ashleigh Gardner has tested positive to Covid-19.

Gardner scored 60 from just 32 balls for Australia in their warm-up game against New Zealand on Tuesday, but has since received a positive PCR test that means the 24-year-old will have to isolate in Christchurch for 10 days.

The right-hander will miss Australia’s opening game of the tournament against England on Saturday, while she will also be forced to sit out the match against Pakistan on March 8.

All of Gardner’s teammates have since tested negative on RATs, meaning Saturday’s clash with England will still go ahead as planned.

ਖੇਤੀਬਾੜੀ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਐਡਮ ਮਾਰਸ਼ਲ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਹੁਣ ਅਸੀਂ ਇਕ ਨਾਜ਼ੁਕ ਮੋੜ ‘ਤੇ ਹਾਂ, ਜੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਬਸੰਤ ਰੁੱਤ ਤਕ ਚੂਹਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਘੱਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਤਾਂ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਪੇਂਡੂ ਅਤੇ ਖੇਤਰੀ ਨਿਊ ਸਾਊਥ ਵੇਲਜ਼ ‘ਚ ਪੂਰੇ ਆਰਥਿਕ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਸੰਕਟ ਦਾ ਸਾਹਮਣਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਪੈ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।”

ਆਸਟਰੇਲੀਆ ਦੇ ਰਾਜ ਨਿਊ ਸਾਊਥ ਵੇਲਜ਼ ਦੀ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਸਥਿਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਬਦਤਰ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਹੈ। ਬਰੂਸ ਬਾਰਨਜ਼ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਕਿਸਾਨ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਕੇਂਦਰੀ ਨਿਊ ਸਾਊਥ ਵੇਲਜ਼ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਬੋਗਨ ਗੇਟ ਨੇੜੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਖੇਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਫਸਲਾਂ ਬੀਜ ਕੇ ਇੱਕ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੂਆ ਖੇਡ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਅਸੀਂ ਸਿਰਫ ਬਿਜਾਈ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਮੀਦ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਸਖਤ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਨਾ ਜਾਵੇ।”

 ਇਕ ਰਿਪੋਰਟ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ ਚੂਹੇ ਹਰ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਹ ਖੇਤਾਂ, ਘਰਾਂ, ਛੱਤ, ਫਰਨੀਚਰ  ਤੋਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਸਕੂਲ ਅਤੇ ਹਸਪਤਾਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਹਨ। ਲੋਕ ਚੂਹੇ ਦੇ ਮਲ-ਮੂਤਰ ਅਤੇ ਸੜਨ ਦੀ ਬਦਬੂ ਤੋਂ ਪ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਾਨ ਹਨ। ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਮਾਰ ਹੋਣ ਦੀਆਂ ਖ਼ਬਰਾਂ ਵੀ ਆਈਆਂ ਹਨ। ਉਥੋਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਭਾਰਤ ਕੋਲੋਂ 5000 ਲੀਟਰ ਬਰੂਮਿਡਿਓਲੋਨ ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਚੂਹਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਦਹਿਸ਼ਤ ਨਾਲ ਨਜਿੱਠਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕੇ।
