Ottawa: To maintain regional connectivity, Mark Gerretsen, Member of Parliament for Kingston and the Islands, announced, a non-repayable contribution of over $2.8 million at the Kingston Airport today.

Announcing the contribution, for four southern Ontario airports: Kingston Airport, Cornwall Regional Airport, Huronia Airport and Arnprior Airport, he said that Southern Ontario is a strategically-located and globally recognized region that offers many advantages for local businesses, including state-of-the-art infrastructure, a diverse workforce and a strong regional air transportation network.

According to the information, the City of Kingston, operator of Kingston Airport, is receiving a $1.3-million investment, Huronia Airport is receiving a $310,000 investment, Arnprior Airport will get $47,500 and

Ottawa: Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced the formation of a new task force focused, in a bid to improve passport and immigration application processing, and monitoring the situation at Canadian airports. The task force to be functional at airports from July 25.

Apart from this, the Canadian Transportation agency is setting up information resource to help passengers in providing swift details of flight cancellations, delays or lost luggage.

Toronto: To facilitate the travellers, the transport department of Canada and industry partners are taking some new initiative to reduce the wait times and congestion at the airport in the country.

The Minister of Transport Omar Alghabra, the Minister of Health Jean-Yves Duclos said that they are meeting senior leadership at airports and airlines across the nation to ensure that ongoing collaboration will help to prevent delays and keep travellers moving.

Meanwhile, last week, Canada’s airports screened about 80 percent of passengers by CATSA within 15 minutes, despite higher flow of passenger.

Similarly, now only about 2% of passengers across the country are waiting over 45 minutes to be screened, they said.
