Chandigarh: The Punjab government has called for a special Vidhan Sabha session on Friday to reiterate government’s claim on Chandigarh.

The move comes days after Union Minister Amit Shah, during his recent visit to Chandigarh, had announced that the Central service rules will apply to employees of the Union Territory of Chandigarh from March 28.

“Speaker Punjab Vidhan Sabha has convened a one day special sitting of the first session of the 16th State Assembly on Friday i.e. April 1, 2022 at 10.00 am. Live proceedings of this session would be available at Facebook, Twitter and YouTube Handles of Punjab Government and CMO,” A spokesman of Punjab government said.

Chandigarh: Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday said that state will fight for its claim over Chandigarh, a day after union minister Amit Shah announced a big change for the government employees of Chandigarh.

Shah, during his visit to Chandigarh, announced that the employees in the union territory will now get the benefits of central employees.

“Central Govt has been stepwise imposing officers and personnel from other states and services in Chandigarh administration. This goes against the letter and spirit of Punjab Reorganisation Act 1966. Punjab will fight strongly for its rightful claim over Chandigarh…, “Mann said in a tweet.

Chandigarh: Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah said that Chandigarh is going to become the most disciplined and modern city of the country in the coming time.

He said that development works have been inaugurated and foundation stone has been laid, these include education, water supply in 6 villages, construction of bus depots in industrial area and construction of hostels for boys and girls. He said that the biggest task is to create an integrated command and control center, this integrated command center is going to bring about a drastic change in all areas of civil administration in Chandigarh in the coming days. He said that there will be monitoring of many civil facilities from a single command center and there will also be a system to upgrade them. This command center will create a new environment of traffic discipline including sending challans home for breaking rules, security of Chandigarh and sending a police team in a moment when any missing object is noticed.

Shah said that in a way, work is being done to bring all the civic amenities under one command center in Chandigarh. He requested the administrator of Chandigarh that a program should be made for all the school children up to class 12 to visit this command center so that they can understand it as future citizens.

Amit Shah said that a lot of work has already been done in Chandigarh, 40 electric buses have been given and work is going on to provide 40 buses. A lot of initiatives have also been taken to establish Chandigarh as a model solar city and perhaps India’s largest bike sharing system on PPP model is in Chandigarh itself, this has ensured a huge success in keeping the environment of Chandigarh clean.

He said that the Chandigarh Administration has also implemented the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana very well and the work of 100 peecent digitization of revenue records has also been completed. Perhaps Chandigarh will be the first city in the country where digitization has been completed.

Earlier, Union Home and Cooperation Minister inaugurated the new office of Housing Board and Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCC) in Chandigarh. Shah also inaugurated and laid foundation stone of various development projects in Urban Park, Sector 17.

Chandigarh: From April 1, booze lovers will have to pay extra money to buy liquor in Chandigarh as administration has increased minimum retail price of beer in the tricity.

The administration has hiked Rs 10 for strong and light beer (650 ml).

Different contractors charging Rs 100 for a 650ml beer bottle and another charged Rs 130 for it during this financial year. If such differences in prices continue in the next fiscal, the price would vary between Rs 110 to 150, said a contractor on the request of anonymity.

Meanwhile, 330 ml bottle will continue to have MSP of Rs 60 and 500ml will also remain unchanged at Rs 80 while price of super-mild beer also remains same Rs at 60 as last year.

The MSP price of country liquor has also been increased by Rs 10 to Rs 25, depending on the category.

Chandigarh: With the Electricity Department went on a three-day strike in protest against the privatisation of the department, many areas of the Chandigarh faced disruption in the power supply.

Residents said that electricity went off after midnight ans the issue is yet to be resolved by electricity officials as they did not pay heed to repeated complaints citing that they are no strike.

The National Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees and Engineers (NCCOEEE) and employees from Punjab, Haryana and Himachal may join thr stir as protesting employees threatened to extend the strike for an indefinite period in case the transition is not stopped.

Meanwhile, UT electricity department has has alerted the Chandigarh municipal corporation regarding the three-day strike and urged them to arrange the required workforce to manage the affairs.

ਚੰਡੀਗੜ੍ਹ –  ਕਿਸਾਨ ਜਥੇਬੰਦੀਆਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਅੱਜ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਰਹੱਦਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਡਟੇ ਹੋਣ ਦੇ 7 ਮਹੀਨੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਹੋਣ ‘ਤੇ ਕਿਸਾਨ ਅਗਲੀ ਰਣਨੀਤੀ ਦੇ ਤਹਿਤ ਚੰਡੀਗੜ੍ਹ ਵਿਚ ਰੋਸ ਮਾਰਚ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਚੰਡੀਗੜ੍ਹ ਪੁਲਸ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਬੈਰੀਕੇਡਿੰਗ ਤੋੜ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ। ਚੰਡੀਗੜ੍ਹ-ਮੋਹਾਲੀ ਬਾਰਡਰ ‘ਤੇ ਮਾਹੌਲ ਕਾਫ਼ੀ ਤਣਾਅਪੂਰਨ ਬਣਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ। ਬੈਰੀਕੇਡ ਤੋੜ ਕੇ ਕਿਸਾਨ ਚੰਡੀਗੜ੍ਹ ਦਾਖ਼ਲ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਪੁਲਸ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਤੋਪਾਂ ਵੀ ਛੱਡੀਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਹਨ।

 ਇਸ ਧਰਨੇ ਚ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਭਰ ਦੀਆਂ 32 ਕਿਸਾਨ ਜਥੇਬੰਦੀਆਂ ਅੱਜ ਮੋਹਾਲੀ ਦੇ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਾ ਅੰਬ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਇਕੱਠੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਹਨ।
ਕਿਸਾਨ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਕਾਲੇ ਕਾਨੂੰਨ ਵਾਪਸ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਰਾਜ ਭਵਨ ਦਾ ਘਿਰਾਓ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਰਾਜਪਾਲ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰਪਤੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਂ ਮੰਗ ਪੱਤਰ ਸੌਂਪਣਗੇ। ਸੰਯੁਕਤ ਕਿਸਾਨ ਮੋਰਚਾ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਅੱਜ 26 ਜੂਨ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਸ਼ ਭਰ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਰਾਜਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਪਾਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਮੋਰੰਡਮ ਦੇਣ ਦੀ ਕਾਲ ਦੇ ਸੰਬੰਧ ਵਿਚ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਕਾਲ ਦੇ ਮੱਦੇਨਜ਼ਰ ਅੱਜ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਭਰ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਕਿਸਾਨ ਜਥੇਬੰਦੀਆਂ ਵੱਡੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿਸਾਨ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਾ ਅੰਬ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਮੋਹਾਲੀ ਵਿਖੇ ਪਹੁੰਚੇ। ਇਥੇ ਬਕਾਇਦਾ ਇਕ ਸਟੇਜ ਵੀ ਲਗਾਈ ਗਈ ਹੈ ।  
ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਕਿਸਾਨ ਯੂਨੀਅਨ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਮੁੱਖ ਆਗੂ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਯੁਕਤ ਕਿਸਾਨ ਮੋਰਚਾ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਕਨਵੀਨਰ ਬਲਬੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਰਾਜੇਵਾਲ ਰੁਲਦੂ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਾਨਸਾ ਸਤਨਾਮ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਹਿਰੂ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਇਕੱਠ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਬੋਧਨ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕੇਂਦਰ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਚਿਤਾਵਨੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਕਿ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੇਰੀ ਤੋਂ ਤਿੰਨੇ ਕਾਲੇ ਕਾਨੂੰਨ ਵਾਪਸ ਲੈ ਲਵੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਨਤੀਜੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਣਗੇ।

ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਗ਼ੈਰ ਸੰਵਿਧਾਨਕ ਤੌਰ ‘ਤੇ ਪਾਸ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਇਹ ਕਾਨੂੰਨ ਰਾਜਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਿੱਧਾ ਦਖ਼ਲ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸਾਨ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਹਿਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਨਗੇ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਕਿਸਾਨ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਤੋਂ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਾਨੂੰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਦ ਕਰਵਾਏ ਤੋਂ ਬਗੈਰ ਵਾਪਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਰਤਣਗੇ।
