Chandigarh: Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday announced that people in Punjab now will not require to stand in long queues to get ration as state government would soon start delivering it at their doorstep.

While making an announcement to this effect in a video message, Bhagwant Mann said that the scheme is aimed at providing good quality ration wheat or atta and daal to the people packed in clean gunny bags. He said, “You need not to stand in long queues or miss your daily-wage anymore for getting ration and now our officials would check your availability before delivering the ration at your doorsteps”.

Pointing out further, Mann said that under this scheme an option would also be given to those beneficiaries who want to get ration supply from the nearby depots as per their convenience.

He lamented that the people have to still stand in long queues for fetching ration even after 75 years of independence whereas now in a digital era people can get anything delivered online within no time at their place.

CM Mann said that those who lived near ration depots could get it from the depots as earlier while those opted for home delivery will get ration at their doorstep.

Meanwhile, according to government data, there are about 1.42 lakh beneficiaries in the state under the National Food Safety Act. Wheat at 5 kg per beneficiary per month is provided for six months in one go, twice a year.

Chandigarh: Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Sunday launched fierce attack on Captain Amarinder Singh and said that he was removed by the Congress as Captain was working on the directions of BJP in Delhi.

She said this forced the Congress leadership to change the CM a few months before the elections as Punjab should be operated from state not from Delhi, Priyanka said addressing a rally in support of Congress candidate Ajaypal Singh Sandhu.

“AAP has also similar agenda and will govern the state from Delhi as Arvind Kejriwal will dictates AAP leadership in Punjab. So, be careful and don’t make a mistake to support them,” She said.

Saying that she is a Punjabi from heart as married in a Punjabi family, she urged women to chose a government smartly who cares for people like Congress do and always stand with them like it has been proved in the farmers’ agitation at Delhi borders.

Chandigarh: Resigning from the Chief Minister’s post Captain Amarinder Singh on Saturday lashed out at PPCC Navjot Singh Sidhu and said that he is a complete disaster and he has no capability to run a state as CM.

“He had failed to even manage affairs of a department being a minister of my cabinet and I know his calibre. Sidhu cannot run a government and I will never accept him as a CM candidate,” Captain said adding that many leaders were eying on the CM post for a past few months and he was aware of it.

He said that there are many options for him in the future and he will take a decision after consulting his friends and family soon.

Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh will resign ahead of the crucial Congress Legislature Party meeting in Chandigarh on Saturday evening, sources close to him said.

The CM will address the press at Punjab Raj Bhavan at 4.30 pm, The Tribune report said adding that the decision was taken at a meeting of MLAs close to him at his official residence in Chandigarh after 2 pm.

Earlier, hectic political activity was witnessed in the Punjab Congress hours before AICC-appointed observers Harish Chaudhary and Ajay Maken and Punjab Affairs incharge Harish Rawat arrived in Chandigarh to hold a meeting of the Congress Legislature Party, the report said.

ਚੰਡੀਗੜ੍ਹ : ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਕੈਪਟਨ ਅਮਰਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਨਿਚਰਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਪਿਛਲੀ ਅਕਾਲੀ-ਭਾਜਪਾ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਬਿਜਲੀ ਖਰੀਦ ਸਮਝੌਤੇ (ਪੀ.ਪੀ.ਏ.) ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਸਮੀਖਿਆ ਅਧੀਨ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਮਝੌਤਿਆਂ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਾਰਨ ਸੂਬੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਵਾਧੂ ਵਿੱਤੀ ਬੋਝ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ, ਦੀ ਰੋਕਥਾਮ ਲਈ ਛੇਤੀ ਹੀ ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਰਣਨੀਤੀ ਦਾ ਐਲਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।

ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ, ਜੋ ਕਿ ਸੂਬੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਿਜਲੀ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਹਾਲਾਤ ਦੀ ਸਮੀਖਿਆ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਇਕ ਮੀਟਿੰਗ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨਗੀ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ, ਨੇ ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਬਾਦਲਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਹਕੂਮਤ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਦਸਤਖਤ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਤਰਕਹੀਣ ਬਿਜਲੀ ਖਰੀਦ ਇਕਰਾਰਨਾਮਿਆਂ ਕਾਰਨ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਵਿੱਤੀ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਡੂੰਘਾਈ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਦੀ ਯੋਜਨਾਬੰਦੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।

ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਮੌਜੂਦਾ ਸੰਕਟ 660 ਮੈਗਾਵਾਟ ਬਿਜਲੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਤਲਵੰਡੀ ਸਾਬੋ ਪਾਵਰ ਪਲਾਂਟ ਦੇ ਇਕ ਯੂਨਿਟ ਫੇਲ੍ਹ ਹੋਣ ਦੇ ਸਿੱਟੇ ਵਜੋਂ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।

ਇਸ ਦੌਰਾਨ,ਪੀ.ਐਸ.ਪੀ.ਸੀ.ਐਲ. ਦੇ ਬੁਲਾਰੇ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਸੂਬਾ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਗਏ ਕਦਮਾਂ ਤਹਿਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਖੇਤੀ ਖਪਤਕਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ 8 ਘੰਟੇ ਬਿਜਲੀ ਸਪਲਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸੂਬੇ ਦੇ ਘਰੇਲੂ, ਵਪਾਰਕ, ਛੋਟੇ ਅਤੇ ਦਰਮਿਆਨੀ ਸਪਲਾਈ ਵਾਲੇ ਉਦਯੋਗਿਕ ਖਪਤਕਾਰਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਨਿਰਧਾਰਤ ਬਿਜਲੀ ਕੱਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ।

ਬਠਿੰਡਾ ਤੇ ਰੋਪੜ ਧਰਮਲ ਪਲਾਂਟ ਬੰਦ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਉਤੇ ਬੁਲਾਰੇ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਲਾਂਟਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਬਿਜਲੀ ਦੀ ਯੂਨਿਟ ਕੀਮਤ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਸੀ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਇਹ ਪਲਾਂਟ ਪੁਰਾਣੇ ਡਿਜ਼ਾਇਨ ਦੇ ਬਣੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚਲਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਵਸੀਲਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਸੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਲਾਂਟਾਂ ਦੀ ਦੇਖਭਾਲ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਲਾਗਤ ਵੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਹੈ।
