Chandigarh: Punjab’s Leader of the Opposition (LoP), Partap Singh Bajwa on Sunday slammed the Aam Aadmi Party-led Punjab government for getting master cadre teachers manhandled by the police in Sangrur yesterday.

“At the time, when the AAP leadership was boasting about the so-called pro-people budget, the master cadre teachers including women, who were protesting peacefully for the allotment of stations, outside the Punjab chief minister’s residence in Sangrur, were brutally assaulted by the police”, Bajwa added.

Senior Congress Leader, Bajwa while referring to some media reports said that teachers were protesting under the banner of 4146 teachers of master cadre, demanding allotment of stations. The AAP government had given them joining letters in January this year, but three months on, they are yet to receive posting orders. Some news reports also printed very disturbing images of teachers violently treated by the police, which demonstrate the insensitivity of AAP towards the people, who were asking for their rights.

“What was the point of giving them the joining letters in January, when the government had no intention of allotting them the stations? It seems that the government just wanted to seek fake publicity by giving them the joining letter. Meanwhile, they have been left in the lurch”, LoP added.

Bajwa said that the teachers are considered future-builders of the country. If their future could not be made secure, how can they work on securing the future of the coming generations?

Qadian Legislator, Bajwa said that despite raising the issue of regularising the jobs of firemen, the local bodies minister Dr Inderbir Singh Nijjar failed to provide a satisfactory answer. The AAP government must answer why can’t it regularise the services of firemen, who often face life-threatening situations.

Chandigarh: Showing solidarity to Balkaur Singh, father of slain Punjabi rapper and singer Sidhu Moosewala, in his quest for justice, Punjab’s Leader of the Opposition (LoP), Partap Singh Bajwa on Tuesday said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann-led Aam Aadmi Party government’s lax attitude towards the grieved family had elicited an avalanche of sharp criticism from across the world.

Notably, getting fed up with the AAP government’s apathy, Balkaur Singh along with his wife today sat on a protest outside the Punjab assembly to press the government for justice.

Senior Congress Leader, Bajwa said that before going on a sit-in protest, He (Balkaur Singh) paid a visit to his residence and expressed disappointment with the AAP government for poorly handling the process of delivering justice.

“Moosewala’s father, Balkaur Singh said that no action has been taken against the person, who deliberately leaked the information relating to the pruning of security of Shubhdeep Singh. With the leakage of the same information, Sidhu Moosewala became vulnerable, which later on turned out to be fatal. He said that the person responsible for disclosing the same information has been enjoying the coziness of the government”, Bajwa added.

The opposition Leader said that during a meeting at his residence, Balkaur Singh said he believed that two gangsters, who were killed in the Goindwal Sahib Central Jail in Punjab’s Tarn Taran district, were the witness of Sidhu Moosewala’s brutal murder. It seems killing them was an attempt to destroy the evidence.

Bajwa categorically said that CM Bhagwant Mann must tender an apology for his indecent behaviour in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha on March 6.

“We have brought the issue to the notice of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Kultar Singh Sandhwan, and urged him to do the rightful on this, even though he hasn’t condemned the CM for his immoral conduct”, LoP added.

Bajwa said that the congress party unanimously decided that it would boycott the ongoing session in the Punjab assembly whenever CM would be attending the proceedings.

“I would like to make it crystal clear that we would not oppose any other member of the house and attend the proceedings as usual. This is the boycott of Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann only”, said Bajwa.

Chandigarh: Congress leader & Punjab’s leader of the opposition (LoP) Partap Singh Bajwa on Monday has come down heavily against the Bhagwant Mann government for its complete inability to bring clarity & transparency on the distribution & sale of sand & gravel in Punjab.

As a result it was creating huge chaos and confusion among the people of Punjab who still have to dole out hefty sums to purchase sand at exorbitant rates from the mafia.

“ In fact it is still the sand mafia in Punjab which is ruling the roost while the common man has to shell out huge sums of money from his pocket to ensure his construction activity does not come to a standstill ”, said Bajwa.

Bajwa said though a few days ago the Punjab government had announced after the meeting of the council of ministers headed by Bhagwant Mann that the state would provide sand at Rs. 5.50 per cubic feet at about 18 designated mining sites earmarked by the government.

“ However people are still not aware about these designated sand mines. They also have no idea as to how these mines would be controlled & regulated by the state government”, added Bajwa.

The government even claimed that people could take their own mode of transportation to fetch the sand from the designated mines, however the mafia would not allow such smooth operation and would control & capture such operations through intimidation and force.

Bajwa also cornered Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for his unrealistic and boastful approach towards illegal sand mining in Punjab before the assembly polls in 2022.

“ On December 6, 2021 Kejriwal had claimed that if voted to power the AAP government would generate more than Rs. 20,000 crore revenue by regulating the sand excavation. The AAP government has been in power in Punjab for more than 10 months now but the Bhagwant Mann could neither control the sand mafia nor generate Rs. 20,000 crore revenue. Such lofty statements were made only to mislead the people of Punjab before the assembly polls ”, added Bajwa.

Chandigarh: Senior congress leader & Punjab’s leader of the opposition (LoP) Partap Singh Bajwa on Thursday has slammed the Bhagwant Mann government for its unobtrusive attempt to control the media by blocking the allocation of advertisements.

Bajwa said there were reports and even editorials by various sections of the media which clearly pointed a finger at the Bhagwant Mann government how it tried to browbeat them to write or report on sensitive issues as per the liking of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab.

“ Now this clearly shows how the Bhagwant Mann government is trying to muzzle the free and independent voice of the media by way of coercion. The press in India draws its freedom from the constitution of India as well as from the democratic values of this country”, said Bajwa.

Referring to the Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena’s recent directive to the Delhi chief secretary asking the AAP to return Rs. 97 crore which it spent outside Delhi for its sheer propaganda Bajwa said both Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann must understand that they had no right to squander away the public money for their personal publicity and propaganda.

“ If the Punjab media is not ready to write or report as per the whims and fancies of the Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann they have no right to muzzle or scuttle their independent voices and suffocate them by withdrawing the advertisements”, added Bajwa.

Bajwa said Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann must not behave like tyrannical kings who would want their courtiers to write and sing praises without pointing a finger at their misrule.

In a tweet, Bajwa wrote, “Kejriwal, Bhagwant Mann behaving like tyrannical kings who want their ‘courtiers’ to sing praises & ignore their misrule. Controlling the media by suffocating advertisements speaks volumes about your mindset but such an attempt hugely undermines the press freedom and the constitution of India.”

Chandigarh: Ludhiana MP Ravneet Singh Bittu has taken a dig at the Aam Aadmi Party government for using the slogan ‘Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan’. Bittu said the Punjab government should have better advisors who give them the right advice.

The word ‘Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan’ is a symbol of Khalistani agenda. Bittu said that our country (Watan) is India and Punjab is a state. Punjab is the crown of the country’s head. In this way, by using the word separate country, the government should avoid Khalistani propaganda. Punjab should not be called a separate word ‘watan’.

Bittu said that the government talks about Shaheed Bhagat Singh but Punjab is being called a separate country. Using the slogan ‘Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan’ has sent a wrong message to the country. Bittu said that in the last election, Arvind Kejriwal was accused by one of his senior leaders that he has been holding meetings with Khalistanis. They have been taking funds from them.

Bittu said that on the footsteps of the same Khalistanis, today an attempt is being made to break Punjab by using the word ‘watan’ for Punjab so that a separate country can be understood. The government should think what word it is using. Bittu said that the AAP government in Punjab is working under the pressure of funds taken from Khalistanis.

CHANDIGARH: Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today urged the Punjab government to explain what it planned to do to prevent targeted killings and hate crimes in Punjab saying an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty was being created in the state.

“There is a sense of fear among people that the ISI was trying to resort to selective and targeted killings in Punjab do disturb the peaceful atmosphere in the state and we have already seen a few killings, but the government remains inert and unmoved and is instead busy in Gujarat elections”, Warring said in a statement here today.

The PCC president also questioned the silence of the central government over such a serious situation in the border state wondering why it was allowing such a drift. “Or may be someone wants polarization in Punjab to suit their designs”, he remarked.

“Mere announcements about banning songs promoting gun culture or banning new weapon licenses will not solve the problem as criminals and gangsters do not use licensed weapons to target their victims and nor do they get inspired by songs”, Warring said while taking a dig at the Punjab government’s ban on promoting gun culture in songs.

The PCC president said the situation had further been complicated with total absence of the government machinery from the state that had led to complete inertia in its functioning. “People of Punjab did not elect you for campaigning in Gujarat after abdicating your duties here”, he reminded the Chief Minister and other ministers saying, with AAP remaining completely preoccupied with Gujarat campaign, governance had badly suffered in Punjab.

Warring warned that there are reports already in public domain as how Pakistan’s ISI was desperately trying to revive militancy in Punjab and trying to indoctrinate and instigate youth to resort to violence. “There has been no visible plan or action on part of this government as if nothing has happened”, he observed, while warning against dealing with the situation as “business as usual”.

The PCC president also expressed surprise as to how come the crime gets committed in Punjab and it is the Delhi police which arrests the culprits as happened in case of Sidhu Moosewala’s and a dera follower’s killings. “Why is the Punjab government watching as a mute spectator?” he asked.
