Chandigarh: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) seems to be breaking records in the assembly elections, the ‘custom’ of changing power in the Himachal Pradesh assembly elections does not seem to be changing.

According to Gujarat election results, the BJP is leading in more than 150 seats and it will be a record win for BJP with the highest number of seats so far.

At the same time, the Congress party is forming government as it is leading over 40 seats in Himachal Pradesh. The swearing-in ceremony in Gujarat will take place on December 12 at 2 pm.

In Himachal Pradesh, the Congress party is working on the strategy ahead. According to sources, the Congress party has asked its MLAs to move to Chandigarh after getting the victory certificate. From there, the Congress party can shift its MLAs to Rajasthan or Chhattisgarh state amid speculation of MLA poaching attempt by BJP.

Meanwhile, in the bypoll election, SP candidate Dimple Yadav is leading from Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat in Uttar Pradesh. BJD candidate Barsha Singh from Padampur in Odisha, Congress candidate Savitri Manoj from Bhanupratappur assembly seat in Chhattisgarh, SP candidate Mohammad Asim Raja from Rampur assembly seat in Uttar Pradesh, BJP’s Kedar Prasad Gupta is leading in Bihar’s Kudhani assembly seat and Congress candidate Anil K Sharma is leading in Sardarshahar assembly seat in Rajasthan.

The Aam Aadmi Party has failed to woo the voters in the both states. While it is leading on five seats in Gujarat, AAP has failed to even get a single in Himachal Pradesh. It, however, got about 15 percent vote share in Gujarat, ensuring it to get the national party status.

Counting of votes is being held at 116 centres in Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Odisha, Bihar, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh today.
