Chandigarh: With the concerted efforts of Punjab Government, the State has administered over two crore doses of COVID vaccine so far.

Disclosing this today Deputy Chief Minister Om Prakash Soni said that so far 1.48 crore people in the state had been received the jabbed of first dose while 52 lakh people got both first and second dose.

The Deputy Chief Minister, who is also holding Health portfolio, said that as many as 2.16 lakh people got vaccinated only on Tuesday itself during the mega vaccination drive across the state. He said that Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Amritsar, Hoshiarpur and Patiala were the top five districts in immunization so far.

Disclosing more about the ongoing vaccination the Deputy Chief Minister said that 1.77 crore doses of Covashild and 23 lakh doses of Covaxin had been administered in the state.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that 1.07 crore people in the age group of 18-44 years had been vaccinated while 55 lakh people in the age group of 45-60 years and 38 lakh people 60 years and above received jab of vaccine.

Soni said that the Punjab Government is carrying out this vaccination drive on large scale in fast track mode to protect the people from Corona virus besides protecting them from the expected third wave. The Health & Family Welfare Department has fully geared up in view of the third wave, he added.

New Delhi: After Indian government’s intervention, the United Kingdom on Thursday added Covishield to its list of approved Covid vaccines for incoming travellers.

The authorities, however, is yet to accept certificates issued from India as valid proof.

London’s visa rules are under constant review and the UK High Commission here said it was in dialogue with the Indian Government to break the impasse after Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla threatened reciprocation if the “discriminatory” regime was not reversed. PM Narendra Modi today called for international travel to be made easier through mutual recognition of Covid vaccine certificates by countries, a the Tribune report said adding that basically, the UK has problems with certificates issued by Indian public authorities as well as with the vaccine app Cowin. This means Indians fully vaccinated with Covishield on reaching the UK still have to undergo 10 days of quarantine, besides at least two RTPCR tests.

Ottawa: National advisory of Canada has recommended taking third Covid-19 vaccines to certain immunocompromised individuals on Friday. But the body has not reached to a decision whether to provide additional vaccine shots to the broader population.

The new recommendations released by the National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI) on Friday state that stipulate that moderately to severely immunocompromised Canadians should be vaccinated with a primary series of three doses of an authorized mRNA-based vaccine, which includes those from Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna, a CBC media report said.

“For those who’ve already had a two-dose series, NACI recommends providing a third dose, ideally of an mRNA vaccine — but the committee stressed this should not be considered a “booster,” the report added.

New Delhi: Vaccinating people on a war footing to build herd immunity to combat the third wave, India has administered over 10 crore vaccine shots across the country in about two weeks.
The country has, so far, administrated 70 crore doses of vaccine against coronavirus disease (Covid-19), the Union health ministry said on Tuesday.
Union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya wrote on Twitter while congratulating all health workers for achieving the milestone, “Soaring higher on COVID-19 vaccination under PM (Prime Minister) @NarendraModi ji’s leadership. 70,00,00,000 vaccine doses administered to date, Congratulations to all the health workers and people for this momentous achievement,” he tweeted.
On Monday, India administered more than 1.13 crore doses of theCovid-19 vaccine, achieving the feat of crossing the 1-crore mark thrice in the last 11 days. With the administration of 1,13,53,571 vaccine doses on Monday, India’s Covid-19 vaccination coverage had already surpassed the cumulative figure of 69.90Crore as of 7am today.
Mandaviya said that India administered the first 10 crore vaccine doses in 85 days, while crossed the 20-crore mark in the next 45 days. India took another 29 days to reach the30 crore landmark.

ਇਹ ਦੱਸ ਦਈਏ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੀ ਲਗਭਗ 27% ਆਬਾਦੀ ਨੂੰ ਟੀਕਾ ਲੱਗ ਚੁੱਕਿਆ ਹੈ। ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਰਾਜ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਬਰਬਾਦੀ ਦੇ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਦਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਇੱਕੋ ਦਿਨ ਵਿੱਚ 6 ਲੱਖ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਖੁਰਾਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਸੀ, ਜਦੋਂ ਲੋੜੀਂਦਾ ਸਪਲਾਈ ਮਿਲੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਖੁਰਾਕ 70 ਲੱਖ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ, ਜਦੋਂ ਕਿ 13 ਲੱਖ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਜੀ ਖੁਰਾਕ ਮਿਲੀ ਹੈ।
