New Delhi: Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena has directed the Chief Secretary to recover Rs 97 crore from the Aam Aadmi Party government. The matter is about government advertisements.

It is alleged that the AAP printed political ads in the name of government advertisements.

The LG’s directive comes in the wake of a 2015 Supreme Court order, a 2016 Delhi High Court order. It is alleged that the AAP government is violating the orders of the court.

The AAP is on the target of its opponents for spending on advertising. On September 13 this year, the Congress took a dig at the AAP, saying that it is not a common aam aadmi party, but arvind advertisement party.

“AAP, which indulges in advertising and corruption politics, should be called Arvind Advertising Party, Arvind Actors Party and Arvind Ash Party,” Party leader Ajoy Kumar had said at the Congress headquarters in Delhi. The Congress leader had said that the Bhagwant Mann government was not able to pay salaries of employees but it had Rs 36 crore to pay for campaign expenses in Gujarat in two months.
