Chandigarh: In a major action, Punjab Police on Friday arrested Ferozepur Deputy Superintendent of Police Gurcharan Singh Dhaliwal for allegedly supplying drugs and mobile phones in the Central Jail.

Police said that they have received a tip-off that accused DSP, who was posted inside the central jail, along with his jail staff, was providing drugs and mobile phones to the inmates after getting from Pakistan based smugglers.

Police said that two mobile numbers, which were active inside the jail at that time.

“In another cover operation Addl. Superintendent, Central Jail Ferozepur, Gurcharan Dhaliwal, has been arrested under NDPS Act, IPC & Prevention of Corruption Act. He has been charged for colluding with high risk prisoners lodged in Central Jail Ferozepur, ” Jail Minister Harjot Singh Bains said.
