New Delhi: The Central Election Commission on Tuesday wrote a letter to all political parties on the promises made about free schemes before the elections across the country. The Commission also asked the voters to give authentic information about the financial viability due to election promises, showing strictness on the ‘rewri culture’.

The Election Commission said it cannot ignore the lack of full details of poll promises and its undesirable impact on financial stability.

According to the Election Commission, hollow poll promises have far-reaching implications. In its letter to political parties, the Election Commission proposed to explain all the promises in detail. At the same time, he also asked to give details of all its benefits and economic side. The commission has asked all parties to send their views by October 19.

Through the reform proposal, the EC aims to inform voters about the financial viability of poll promises in the manifesto as well as whether they are within the financial capacity of the state or central government.

The Supreme Court expressed concern

The Supreme Court on Monday heard a petition filed against the promise of free schemes before the elections across the country. During the hearing, the court has sought suggestions from the Central Government, the Election Commission and all the parties of the petition on the formation of an institution to find a solution before the elections, showing strictness on ‘Rewri Culture’.
