New Delhi: Delhi government taking various initiatives to promote electric vehicles in the national capital. At present, Delhi is at the forefront of the sale of electric vehicles.

The Delhi government has announced a subsidy of up to Rs 15,000 to those who buy bicycles. However, it does have some terms and conditions.

Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot said the Delhi government will give a subsidy of Rs 5,500-5,500 to the first 10,000 buyers of e-cycles. At the same time, he said that an additional subsidy of Rs 2,000 will also be given to the first 1,000 buyers of e-cycles.

Minister Kailash Gahlot said the government will also give subsidy on the purchase of ‘heavy duty cargo e-cycles’ and ‘e-carts’ for commercial use. He said that the first 5,000 buyers of cargo (freighter) e-cycles will be given a subsidy of Rs 15,000-15,000,000.

Gehlot said that earlier a subsidy of Rs 30,000 would be given to private buyers of e-carts but now a subsidy of Rs 30,000 would be given by the company for the purchase of these vehicles as well. However, the scheme is only for the residents of Delhi. There are currently 45,900 e-vehicles in Delhi, of which 36 per cent are two-wheelers.
