Washington: An armed man who was trying to enter an FBI office in the US was killed by police in a rural area of the state after an hour-long encounter.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol gave this information and said the incident comes after authorities warned of heightened threats against federal agents following their raid at former US President Donald Trump’s ‘Mar-a-Lago’ property in Florida.

The slain suspect has been identified as Ricky Schiffer, 42, according to an official. “He was not charged with any crime in connection with the Attack on Parliament complex on January 6. According to the official, federal investigators are investigating Schiffer’s links to other right-wing extremist groups, including the Proud Boys.

According to witnesses to the incident, Schiffer tried to “damage” the investigation area at the FBI office around 9.15 a.m. and ran away when officers arrived.

After fleeing on Interstate Highway 71, he was spotted and shot by a soldier, Ohio State Highway Patrol spokesman Lt. Nathan Dennis told a news conference.

Dennis said Schiffer left his car on an interstate rural road north of Cincinnati and was injured after being involved in an encounter with police. However, no one else was injured in the incident. Dennis said Schiffer was shot at around 3 p.m. on Thursday when he pointed his gun at the police.
