He has equalled Michael Rio’s record set in 1992 by scoring a goal. This record was made 30 years ago.

Mbappe scored this goal with the help of Messi. In fact, Messi passed the ball to Mbappe, after which Mbappe managed to score this goal by beating the goalkeeper. After Mbappe’s opening goal, his team Paris Saint-German dominated from the beginning.

Kolkata: Former captain Samar ‘Badru’ Banerjee, who led the Indian football team at the 1956 Olympics in Melbourne, has passed away.

In Melbourne, the Indian team finished in historic fourth place. He passed away early this morning after a prolonged illness. He was 92 years old.

Banerjee, popularly known as ‘Badru Da’, was suffering from several ailments.

He was admitted to MR Bangar Hospital on July 27 after testing positive for Covid-19.

The Indian football team has participated in three Olympic games so far and the 1956 team led by Banerjee has performed the best in these games.

The Indian team lost 0-3 to Bulgaria to finish fourth in the bronze medal play-offs. This period is considered to be the ‘golden age’ of Indian football.

London: The British government on Thursday allowed Chelsea club to run a number of football-related activities meaning its fixtures to be fulfilled, its staff and the running costs of its ground can be paid, and so existing ticket holders for Chelsea games can attend matches.

The licence is a safety net to protect the sport, the Premier League, the wider football pyramid down to the grassroots game, loyal fans and other clubs. It will deprive Abramovich of benefiting from his ownership of the club and mean he cannot circumvent UK sanctions.

The Government will keep the licence under constant review and it will work closely with the relevant football authorities and the club to protect it from irreparable damage that would prevent it from competing, Government said in a statement.

Ambramovich had assets frozen this morning as part of a raft of further sanctions against individuals linked to the Russian regime. Freezing his assets means he cannot benefit from his ownership and make any money from Chelsea.
