New Delhi: AirAsia India Ltd has been fined Rs 20 lakh by aviation regulator DGCA. The DGCA-monitored campaign found that some mandatory drills of the airline’s pilots were not carried out during the pilot proficiency test/instrument rating check. This has violated DGCA rules.

Earlier, the DGCA had removed the airline’s training chief from his post for three months for failing to discharge his duties.

Apart from this, a fine of Rs 3 lakh has been imposed on eight nominated examiners.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation or DGCA had issued show cause notices to the concerned manager, training chief and all designated examiners of AirAsia as to why enforcement action should not be taken against them for lack of oversight of their regulatory obligations. Their written replies were examined and action was taken based on it, officials said.
