Chandigarh: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has announced that Haryana will be alloted land in Chandigarh for construction of a separate Vidhan Sabha building.

Following this, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann also urged the Union government for a land in Chandigarh to build the assembly.

“My appeal to the Central Government is to allot land in Chandigarh to form its own Assembly for our Punjab on the lines of Haryana. There has been a long standing demand that the Punjab and Haryana High Court be set aside…. For this also please provide land in Central Government Chandigarh,” CM Mann said in a social media post.

Following this, opposition attacked CM for demanding land in Chandigarh although Chandigarh belongs to Punjab according to the law.

Congress Punjab Chief Amarinder Raja Warring said, “Only Punjab has a right over the lands and government buildings of Chief Minister Saab, Chandigarh. As stipulated under the Punjab Re-Organisation Act, 1966, Haryana needs to be made a separate capital. Please do not dilute our right over Chandigarh with such statements.”

Ambala: After the talks between farmers and Haryana government had failed for twice, Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij on Thursday said that his government is willing to probe into the entire Karnal episode.

He said that his government will also probe allegations against an IAS officer’s controversial remarks and a police lathicharge on farmers.

“No one will be hanged without a probe. We are ready for an impartial probe. But this will not only be related to (former Karnal) SDM Sinha), but the entire Karnal episode,” Vij said.

Samyukt Kisan Morcha has decided to hold an indefinite protest outside the mini-secretariat here on Thursday as their protest entered the third day.

Farmers have been demanding an action against government officials and cops involved in the August 28 lathicharge in which several farmers sustained grave injuries.

Karnal: As the talks between farmers and Haryana government remained unproductive, farmers started a march towards Mini secretariat to mark their protest against the authorties here on Tuesday.

Haryana Police had to use water cannons to stop farmers from marching towards Karnal’s mini secretariat.

Farmers have been demanding an action against government officials and cops involved in the August 28 lathicharge in which several farmers sustained grave injuries.

Meanwhile, Yogendra Yadav tweeted that some farmer leaders were detained by police but due to increasing pressure, police released them soon.

As per the information, talks lasted two hours between officials and farmers as a 11-member delegation led the talks even as hundreds of other protesters gathered at the grain market.

Farmer unions seeking First Information Report against IAS officer Ayush Sinha, who was the Sub-Divisional Magistrate and was seen in a viral video ordering cops for lathicharge on farmers. Sinha ordered cops to “smash the heads” of protesters if they break down barricades.

Chandigarh: Karnal’s district administration will suspending internet services from 12.30 am Tuesday (September 7) hours before farmers heeded a “gherao” call against the August 28 police action.
As per District Magistrate Nishant Kumar Yadav’s orders all forms of telecom internet services (2G/3G/4G/CDMA/GPRS), SMS services and dongle services provided on mobile networks will be suspended.
“Only voice calls will be allowed on mobile networks, he said after the administration held a meeting on Monday to discuss security arrangements in anticipation of a farmers’ call to gherao the mini secretariat on September 7,” the order read.
The move came after farmers warned that they would gherao the mini secretariat at Karnal on September 7 if the administration did not take legal action against Indian Administrative Service officer who ordered brutal police action on August 28 and the policemen involved in brutal lathicharge of protesting farmers.
The district administration has also imposed Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code in Karnal.
