New Delhi: In Uzbekistan, it is being claimed that children died due to Indian cough syrup. After this claim of Uzbekistan, the Indian government has become alert. The central government has sought a report on the casualties of children in Uzbekistan after linking the deaths of children to Indian Cough Syrup. This pharmaceutical company is reportedly said to be from Noida.

The Uzbekistan Health Ministry has alleged that 18 children in the country have died after consuming drugs manufactured by an Indian pharmaceutical company, months after a similar incident was reported in the Gambia.

India has launched an investigation after a Noida-based drugmaker claimed to have linked the deaths of 18 children in Uzbekistan to syrups. In this regard, the central government has sought a report on the death of children.

Officials said the Central Drugs Regulatory Team has also approached the UP Drugs Licensing Authority to initiate an inquiry against the pharmaceutical company. Meanwhile, sources in the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) have revealed that this particular syrup is not being sold in the Indian market at present.
