Sydney: An Indian national has been shot dead by police in Australia’s Sydney. The incident took place at Sydney’s train station.

Australian police have taken this step after an Indian national allegedly assaulted the sweeper and threatened law enforcement officials, police said.

The Consulate General of India has sought a complete report from Australia in this regard.

The deceased has been identified as Mohammed Rahmatullah Sayeed Ahmed (32), a resident of Tamil Nadu. Ahmed allegedly attacked the 28-year-old cleaner at Sydney’s Auburn railway station on Tuesday.

He then tried to attack two police officers.

At the same time, a police officer fired three bullets, two of which hit Ahmed in the chest. Meanwhile, a probationary constable also put his teaser on him.

However, he was immediately given first aid and taken to a local hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. According to reports, the deceased Indian national was living in Australia on a bridging visa.

Stuart Smith, assistant commissioner of new South Wales police, said police officers had a few seconds to respond.

He was left with no choice but to shoot Ahmed to save his life. “It’s painful,” he said. The help of the counter-terrorism unit will also be sought to investigate the case.
