JEDDAH: US President Joe Biden, who arrived in Saudi Arabia directly on Friday after a visit to Israel, met with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

After meeting prince Mohammed in the Red Sea city of Jeddah on Friday night, Biden said, “What happened to journalist Khashoggi was outragious.” He has now met crown prince Mohammed bin Salman as president.

The Democratic president last year approved the release of a U.S. intelligence that believed Crown Prince Salman had probably approved Khashoggi’s murder. The release of the report had caused a rift in US-Saudi relations.

Prince Mohammed had faced global outrage after the 2018 murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi at the Kingdom’s Istanbul consulate.
