New Delhi: The Supreme court has cancelled the bail of Ashish Mishra, an accused in the Lakhimpur Kheri case. The court asked him to surrender within a week. Farmer leader Rakesh Tikait has reacted to the court’s decision and said that the Supreme Court’s decision is absolutely right.

A Bench led by CJI NV Ramana including Justice Surya Kant and Justice Hima Kohli directed him to surrender within a week. The High Court considered irrelevant factors and showed unwarranted hurry to grant him bail, it noted.

New Delhi: Family members of farmers in the Lakhimpur Kheri incident has moved to Supreme court challenging the high court’s order of granting bail to Union Minister Ajay Mishra Teni’s son Ashish Mishra.

Family claimed that as the state of Uttar Pradesh, where BJP is in power, did not file an appeal against the impugned order.

According to the case, four farmers and a journalist were moved down by an SUV in Lakhimpur when they were protesting against visit of UP Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya’s visit on October 3, 2021. Following this, two BJP workers and a driver were beaten to death by mob.

The Allahabad High Court recently granted bail to Ashish Mishra.

Lakhimpur Kheri: In a shocking revelation, the Uttar Pradesh police have not mentioned incident of mowing down farmers by BJP union minister’s car and claims that ‘bad elements’ among farm law agitators attacked BJP workers who were in a SUV.
The FIR has also not mentioned presence of Union minister Ajay Mishra’s son Ashish Mishra in the car that crushed four farmers and a journalist.
The FIR was lodged on October 4 at the Tikonia police station over the alleged lynching of BJP workers while the other one mentions name of Ashish Mishra, who was allegedly in one of the cars that knocked down four farmers.
The second FIR mentions only one “unnamed rioter”, who has been charged with IPC Sections 302 (murder), 324 (causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) among others.
In the UP violence, a total of eight people had died in the Tikonia area of the district on October 3.

Lakhimpur Kheri: Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra’s son Ashish Mishra has been arrested by the Uttar Pradesh police after questioning him for around nine hours by an SIT here on Saturday.

He was held in connection with the Lakhimpur Kheri violence on October 3, a day after the Supreme Court expressed dissatisfaction over the state government’s action in the case.

Accused Ashish Mishra son of BJP union minister had joined the investigation six days after Lakhimpur Kheri violence in which eight people died including four farmers.

Ashish arrived alone and went straight to the Lakhimpur Kheri police lines to join the investigation. He was named in a FIR that charges him with grave offences, including murder and criminal conspiracy.

As per the incident, a Thar Mahindra SUV mowed down farmers killing and four others.

Lakhimpur Kheri: The Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) on Saturday sought dismissal and immediate arrest of union minister for state Ajay Mishra and his son for UP violence here.

While addressing a press conference, Yogendra Yadav and other farmer leaders, said that the minister should resign and accused must be arrested by the UP Police and they will burn effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and other BJP leaders on Dusshera.

He said that union has decided the five-point plan including an ‘antim ardas’ and ‘bhog ceremony’ on October 12 for the farmers killed at Tikona, Lakhimpur Kheri, and a farmers’ mahapanchayat in Lucknow on October 26.

“A Rail Roko on October 18 has also been planned and we appealed all supporters to either come to Lakhimpur Kheri for the ‘antim ardas’ or remember those who had died at their local gurudwara, temple, mosque or church or the protest site,” he said.

Lakhimpur Kheri: Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu on Friday met the family of a victim, Lovepreet Singh, here and began his hunger strike demanding arrest of BJP union minister’s son for killing farmers and a journalist in UP violence case.

Sidhu has vowed to fast-unto-death and took a pledge of silence until Union Minister Ajay Kumar Mishra’s son Ashish Mishra is arrested.

Sidhu made this announcement at journalist, Raman Kashyap’s house, who was among eight people killed in the violence.

Sharing the photos of his meeting with one of the families on Twitter, Sidhu said, “Justice Delayed-Justice Denied.”

Shiromani Akali Dal Member of Parliament Harsimrat Kaur also visited victims of Sunday’s violence at Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri on Friday. She separately met the 28-year-old Kashyap’s family.

Meanwhile, Ashish Mishra has been booked for the violence but he has not been arrested by the UP police so far.

Lakhimpur Kheri: The Supreme Court on Thursday gave the Uttar Pradesh Government 24 hours to file a status report identifying the accused in the First Information Report (FIR) registered on the Lakhimpur Kheri violence and whether they have been arrested or not.

A Bench led by Chief Justice of India ordered the State to facilitate immediate medical care for the mother of a 19-year-old man who was among the killed in the incident.

Eight people were killed in the violence that erupted during the farmers’ protest in Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh on Sunday after son of Union Minister of State reportedly ran over his vehicle on farmers.

The farmers had assembled to protest Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya’s visit to Banbirpur.
