Cambridge, United Kingdom: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in Cambridge alleged that there is a “systematic attack” on the institutions that allow India freedom of speech.

He said that freedom of speech is being hampered due to which “invisible forces” are entering these institutions and the definition of a way of dialogue in the country is being redefined.

Rahul expressed his views on questions such as Hindu nationalism, Gandhi family’s role in the Congress party and efforts to unite people at the ‘India at 75’ event held at Christy College in the prestigious ‘Cambridge University’ on Monday evening.

Speaking to Shruti Kapila, an Indian-origin doctor at the university, Rahul said, “For us, India lives when it speaks and when India becomes silent it becomes ‘lifeless’.

Parliament, the electoral system and the basic structure of democracy are being encroached upon by an organisation.”

He alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is projecting the idea of an India from which most of the people of the country have been excluded. He said the Congress party’s fight is against the large scale centralisation of assets in the country and encroachment of other institutions including the media.

He said that his this dialogue will not be shown anywhere in the Indian media for more than 30 seconds. Some big businessmen supporting the government are controlling now controlling media.
