New Delhi: Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Party (PTI) backed leader Pervez Elahi has been appointed as the new Chief Minister of Punjab province. Pakistan President Arif Alvi administered the oath of office and secrecy to Pervez Elahi in Aywan-e-Sadr on Wednesday.

Parvez Elahi was sworn in as the new Chief Minister following the Supreme Court’s verdict against the verdict of Dost Mohammad Mazari, deputy speaker of the Punjab Legislative Assembly.

A three-judge bench of the Supreme Court comprising Pakistan Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial, Justice Ijazul Ahsan and Justice Muneeb Akhtar had ordered Punjab Governor Bali ur Rehman to administer the oath to Elahi, but the governor refused to do so. Due to this, President Arif Alvi administered the oath to Elahi.

Karachi: The assembly of Pakistan’s Punjab province became an arena of war on Saturday after leaders of Imran Khan’s party PTI attacked the deputy speaker.

Deputy Speaker Dost Mohammad Majri sustained injuries in the attack by PTI leaders. At the moment, not much is known about the injuries he suffered. It is being told that the PTI MLAs slapped the deputy speaker and pulled his hair. The speaker has been safely removed.

When deputy speaker Dost Mohammad Mazari came to preside over the House to elect a new Chief Minister of Punjab, he was assaulted by MLAs of Imran Khan’s party PTI, who reportedly threw lotas at him. Security guards were also present during this time. The session of the Punjab Assembly was scheduled to begin at 11.30 am but was adjourned due to the absence of PTI members.

ਟੀਵੀ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਬਿਊਰੋ- ਸ਼ੇਰੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਮਹਾਰਾਜਾ ਰਣਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੀ ਬਰਸੀ ਮੌਕੇ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਸਥਿਤ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਾ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਡੇਹਰਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਲਾਹੌਰ ਵਿਖੇ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਸ਼ਰਧਾਲੂਆਂ ਦੇ ਜਥੇ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਰੋਨਾ ਵਾਇਰਸ ਕਾਰਨ ਇਜਾਜ਼ਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲ ਸਕੀ। ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਕੋਰੋਨਾ ਲਾਗ ਦੀ ਬੀਮਾਰੀ ਕਾਰਨ ਸਿੱਖ ਜਥੇ ਦੇ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਦਾਖਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਮਨਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਤੀ।

ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਦੇ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਮੀਤ ਸਕੱਤਰ ਕੁਲਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਰਮਦਾਸ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਦੀ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਸਿੱਖ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਕ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਸਤਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਨਾਲ ਟੈਲੀਫੋਨ ’ਤੇ ਗੱਲਬਾਤ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ। ਗੱਲਬਾਤ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਸ਼ੇਰੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਮਹਾਰਾਜਾ ਰਣਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੀ ਬਰਸੀ ਮੌਕੇ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਜਥੇ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਕੋਰੋਨਾ ਕਾਰਨ ਆਗਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ। 

ਇਹ ਜਥਾ 21 ਜੂਨ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਜਥੇ ਨੇ 29 ਜੂਨ ਨੂੰ ਮਹਾਰਾਜਾ ਰਣਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੀ ਬਰਸੀ ਮਨਾਉਣ ਉਪਰੰਤ 30 ਜੂਨ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਪਸ ਭਾਰਤ ਪਰਤਣਾ ਸੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸ਼ਰਧਾਲੂਆਂ ਨੇ ਮਹਾਰਾਜਾ ਰਣਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੀ ਬਰਸੀ ਮੌਕੇ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਜਾਣ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਾਸਪੋਰਟ ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਪਾਸ ਜਮ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਰਵਾਏ ਸਨ, ਉਹ ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਦੇ ਯਾਤਰਾ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਤੋਂ ਵਾਪਸ ਲੈ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ।

ਦੱਸ ਦੇਈਏ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਵੀ ਕਈ ਇਤਿਹਾਸਕ ਸਮਾਗਮਾਂ ਮੌਕੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਸ਼ਰਧਾਲੂਆਂ ਦਾ ਜਥਾ ਪਾਕਿ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਿਆ ਸੀ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਵਜ੍ਹਾ ਕੋਰੋਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਪੁਰਬ ਮੌਕੇ ਸ਼ਰਧਾਲੂਆਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਾ ਕਰਤਾਰਪੁਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾ ਲਾਂਘਾ ਖੋਲ੍ਹਣ ਦੀਆਂ ਬੇਨਤੀਆਂ ਵੀ ਬੇਅਸਰ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਕੋਰੋਨਾ ਦੇ ਮੱਦੇਨਜ਼ਰ ਭਾਰਤ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਇਹ ਲਾਂਘਾ ਖੋਲ੍ਹਣ ਦੀ ਇਜਾਜ਼ਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਸੀ, ਜਿਸ ਕਾਰਨ ਸਿੱਖ ਸ਼ਰਧਾਲੂ ਕਾਫੀ ਨਿਰਾਸ਼ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ।
