New Delhi: In yet another controversial statement, a BJP MLA from Karnataka has blamed the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan for rising fuel prices in India.
Citing that global fuel supply problems due to Afghanistan has led to skyrocketing prices of gas, petrol and diesel in India.
The BJP’s MLA from Hubli-Dharwad West Arvind Bellad said, “Due to Taliban issue in Afghanistan, problems regarding fuel supply has emerged across the world that has accelerated the price of gas, diesel and petrol in India,” he told the media.
The fuel prices have crossed the Rs 100-mark in several states across the country in July as state-run fuel oil companies on multiple occasions since July.
Now, Rs 101.34 per litre petrol is costing in Delhi while Rs 88.77 a diesel. In Mumbai, petrol was selling at Rs 107.39 per litre and diesel Rs 96.33 for one-litre.
Meanwhile, this is not the first time that politicians from BJP party  has blamed the ongoing chaos in Afghanistan to describe or speak about issues concerning India over the past few days.
Recently, a senior BJP leader from Madhya Pradesh had asked a journalist to go to the neighbouring country following its seizure by the Islamic militants when questioned him about high inflation and rising fuel prices in India.
