Ottawa: Lacrosse player-turned-coach and five other young adults were reported missing on Saturday, but all of them are feared dead in a single vehicle crash in Barrie, Ontario.

At around 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, Barrie Police arrived at the scene after receiving information about the accident in the area of McKay Road and County Road 27.

Barrie Police Services (BPS) Communications Coordinator Janet Mays said four boys and two girls in their 20s were reported missing in the vehicle. Very little information has been released regarding the accident.

The City of Barrie confirmed on Sunday afternoon that the site where the accident occurred was part of a construction project and that the corridor had been closed for a long time.

Police have not released the names of the dead, but one of them is said to have been identified as local Lacrosse player and coach Luke West. On Sunday, Ontario Premier Doug Ford took to social media to express his condolences to the families of the deceased. The matter is being investigated.

JAIPUR: In a tragic road accident, 11 people of an extended family were killed while 7 others sustained injured when a pick-up jeep overturned after colliding with a stationary tractor near Udaipur wati-Gudha road in Jhunjhunu.

According to the police, the family were returning from Lohargal village after immersing the ashes of their 60-year-old relative when the accident took place.

The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi expressed deep grief over the loss of lives due to tragic accident in Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan.

Modi also announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 Lakhs to the next kin of the deceased and Rs. 50,000 to those injured in the accident from Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF).

India’s High Commissioner to Canada Ajay Bisaria shared this news on his Twitter handle today and said, “Heart-breaking tragedy in Canada: 5 Indians students passed away in an auto accident near Toronto on Saturday. Two others in hospital. Deepest condolences to the families of the victims. @IndiainToronto team in touch with friends of the victims for assistance.”

According to the information, Harpreet Singh, Jaspinder Singh, Karanpal Singh, Mohit Chouhan and Pawan Kumar were pronounced dead at the scene of Saturday’s crash.

Chandigarh: Punjab Transport Minister Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, on Friday, directed to celebrate “No challan day” by organizing roadside campaign where traffic violators such as over speeding, drink and driving, driving without helmet, use of mobile while driving; overloading etc. will be stopped and given traffic awareness briefing on Road Safety.

The violators and general public will be given pamphlets and badges on Road Safety during the campaign.

Chairing a meeting to review the preparation for Road Safety campaign to be organized at on November 14, 2021 at all Block, District and metropolitan city in the State, the Transport Minister stressed that Road Safety should be made part of the curriculum in the school and colleges and students should be assessed for grads on road safety material not just as an optional chapter in the books. He directed the Lead Agency to issue the letter to Departments of School, Higher and Technical Education in this regard.

“The ‘No Challan Day’ will be celebrated from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon on November 14, 2021 where the officials of Transport Department and Traffic Police, with the Cooperation of Public Representatives of the area and also active involvement of NGO’s and civil society organizations, will sensitize commuters”, said the minister, adding that the NGO’s and Civil Society Organizations will be fully involved for bringing Road Safety Awareness among the general public and may also distribute Helmets and paste Retro Reflective Tape etc. It was also decided in the meeting that the state government will be approached for release of grants earmarked in the budget for taking up Road Safety activities for purchase of Retro Reflective Bands, Road Signages and other Road Safety Equipment in the State.

The Transport Minister directed the road owning departments to fully utilize the budget provision made in the DPR’s of new roads for Road Safety Activities. He has also directed the Departments to improve the signages and soft-shoulders on all the roads for pedestrian walking and also for cyclists especially in rural and municipal roads. A communication in this regard will be sent to all the Authorities by the Lead Agency.

MLAs and Youth Congress leaders and Mahila Congress leaders from almost all districts of Punjab participated in the meeting and gave valuable suggestions regarding improvement of roads, footpaths, signages and prevention of road accidents in the state. MLAs and other leaders presented in the meeting assured the Transport Minister to extend their full cooperation in various Road Safety Activities in districts and block level programs to bring traffic awareness among general public across the State because Punjab along with states like Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan etc is among the top five states where fatalities per lakh population are higher side.

Vancouver: A pall of gloom descended among Punjabi community in Canada after reports of two youngsters killed in a road mishap that took place in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada.

Two Punjabi youths were killed in a fatal road accident at Surrey and three unidentified persons suffered injuries in this incident but the authorities have not disclosed their information yet.

According to the information, Kulbir Singh and his accomplice Siddhant Garg died in the accident and they are stated to be from Faridkot district of Punjab.

The youth had gone to attend a birthday party in Vancouver and the accident took place on their way back.

Vancouver – ਕੇਲੋਨਾ ’ਚ ਸੜਕ ਹਾਦਸਾ ਵਾਪਰਿਆ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਹਾਦਸੇ ‘ਚ ਇਕ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਤੇ ਇਕ ਔਰਤ ਨੂੰ ਜਖ਼ਮੀ ਹਾਲਤ ’ਚ ਹਸਪਤਾਲ ’ਚ ਭਰਤੀ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਕੇਲੋਨਾ RCMP ਵੱਲੋਂ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਸਾਂਝੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਕਾਲੇ ਰੰਗ ਦੀ Chevrolet Corvette ਚਲਾਈ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਕਾਰ ‘ਚ ਇਕ ਔਰਤ ਵੀ ਸੀ। RCMP ਦਾ ਕਹਿਣਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਹਾਦਸਾ 3:00 a.m ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਵਾਪਰਿਆ ਜਿੱਥੇ Springfield Road and Burtch Road ਦੇ ਇੰਟਰਸੈਕਸ਼ਨ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਲੱਗੇ ਦਰੱਖਤ ਨਾਲ ਵਾਹਨ ਟਕਰਾ ਗਿਆ।ਇਸ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਮੌਕੇ ਵਾਲੀ ਥਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਡਰਾਇਵਰ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ। ਵਾਹਨ ‘ਚ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਔਰਤ ਦੇ ਇਸ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਸੱਟਾਂ ਆਈਆਂ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਜਖ਼ਮੀ ਹਾਲਤ ‘ਚ ਹਸਪਤਾਲ ਭਰਤੀ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ। RCMP ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਹਾਦਸੇ ‘ਚ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਵਾਹਨ ਸ਼ਾਮਿਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ।ਜਾਂਚਕਰਤਾਵਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਇਸ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਦੀ ਜਾਂਚ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਹਾਦਸੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ Springfield Road ਨੂੰ ਕੁੱਝ ਸਮੇਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਬੰਦ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ।ਜਾਂਚਕਰਤਾਵਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਇਹ ਪਤਾ ਲਗਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਹਾਦਸਾ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਵਾਪਰਿਆ। ਇਸ ਹਾਦਸੇ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਨ ਸਪੀਡ ਵੀ ਮੰਨੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।RCMP ਦਾ ਕਹਿਣਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜੇਕਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਇਸ ਹਾਦਸੇ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ 250-762-3300 ‘ਤੇ ਕਾਲ ਕਰਕੇ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਸਾਂਝੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ।

ਲਾਹੌਰ -ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ, ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਡੇਰਾ ਗਾਜ਼ੀ ਖਾਨ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਵਿਚ ਸੋਮਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਸੜਕ ਹਾਦਸਾ ਵਾਪਰਿਆ। ਇਸ ਹਾਦਸੇ ਚ ਕਰੀਬ 30 ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਅਤੇ 40 ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਲੋਕ ਜ਼ਖਮੀ ਹੋ ਗਏ। ਇਹ ਹਾਦਸਾ ਹਾਈਵੇਅ ‘ਤੇ ਇਕ ਯਾਤਰੀ ਬੱਸ ਦੇ ਟਰੱਕ ਨਾਲ ਟਕਰਾਉਣ ‘ਤੇ ਵਾਪਰਿਆ।

ਜ਼ਖਮੀਆਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾਤਰ ਉਹ ਵਰਕਰ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਈਦ-ਉਲ-ਅਜਹਾ ਮਨਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ।ਜ਼ਖਮੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਨੇੜਲੇ ਹਸਪਤਾਲ ਵਿਚ ਦਾਖਲ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਹਸਪਤਾਲ ਦੇ ਮੈਡੀਕਲ ਕਰਮੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ 18 ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਹਸਪਤਾਲ ਪਹੁੰਚਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਮੌਤ ਹੋ ਚੁੱਕੀ ਸੀ। ਹਾਦਸੇ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਬੱਸ ਸਿਆਲਕੋਟ ਤੋਂ ਰਾਜਨਪੁਰ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ, ਉਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਡੇਰਾ ਗਾਜ਼ੀ ਖਾਨ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਦੇ ਤਾਉਨਸਾ ਬਾਈਪਾਸ ਨੇੜੇ ਸਿੰਧੂ ਹਾਈਵੇਅ ‘ਤੇ ਹਾਦਸਾਗ੍ਰਸਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ।

ਜਦੋਂ ਬੱਸ ਖੰਨੇ ਪਹੁੰਚੀ ਤਾਂ ਜੀ. ਟੀ. ਰੋਡ ‘ਤੇ ਇਕ ਸਰੀਏ ਨਾਲ ਭਰੇ ਟਰਾਲੇ ਨਾਲ ਟਕਰਾ ਗਈ। ਇਹ ਹਾਦਸਾ ਇੰਨਾ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਮੌਕੇ ‘ਤੇ ਹੀ 2 ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਅਤੇ 3 ਦੇ ਕਰੀਬ ਲੋਕ ਜ਼ਖਮੀ ਹੋ ਗਏ। ਬੱਸ ਦਾ ਅਗਲਾ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਚਕਨਾਚੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ। ਮੌਕੇ ‘ਤੇ ਪੁੱਜੀ ਪੁਲਸ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਇਸ ਹਾਦਸੇ ਦੀ ਜਾਂਚ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ।
