Washington: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who arrived in the US on his first foreign trip since the Russian invasion, has received strong support from the US, including a new missile defense system. President Joe Biden promised Zelensky, “You will never be alone.”

Astana: Russian President Vladimir Putin warned on Friday that a collision of NATO troops with the Russian military would be a “global catastrophe”.

Addressing a news conference in Kazakhstan’s capital Astana, Putin said, “Direct contact with the Russian military or NATO’s direct confrontation with the troops will be a very dangerous step, which can cause global catastrophe, I hope that those who say this, it is quite sensible not to take such a step.”

Earlier, Putin had warned of using nuclear weapons to protect Russian territory after capturing four territories of Ukraine last month. The move was condemned by the United Nations this week.

According to a statement issued by the White House, on Tuesday, the G7 nations warned that the use of nuclear weapons on Ukraine would have serious consequences.

“We deliberately condemn the Russian escalator moves, including partial mobilisation of reservoirs and irresponsible nuclear rhetoric that is affecting global peace and security,” the leaders of the G7 nations i.e. the UK, Germany, Italy, Canada, the US, France and Japan had said.

Any use of chemical, biological or nuclear weapons by Russia will have serious consequences.”

Russia has occupied four provinces of Ukraine. However, Russia’s move to merge ukraine’s four provinces with its own country has been condemned by most members of the international community and called it illegal.

US President Joe Biden had accused his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin of making a fake claim to Ukraine’s territory, saying the move would crush the UN Charter and ignore the concept of peaceful nations everywhere.

Kiev: Russia launched fierce attacks early this morning on two residential buildings in the Ukrainian capital Kiev.

Kiev Mayor Vitaly Kalischko said four people have been hospitalised. A seven-year-old girl has also been pulled out from the debris. The Russian army is consolidating its position on other areas in the eastern region.

Ukrainian LAWMAKER Olexi Goncharenko wrote on the Telegram app that according to preliminary information, 14 missiles have been fired in Kiev. Russia has carried out such a large-scale air strikes on Kiev today since June 5. It appears to have been symbolically attacked ahead of this week’s NATO summit in Madrid, Clischko told reporters.

Two other explosions were heard in Kiev, but possible loss of life and property was not immediately known. Meanwhile, the Russian army has scrambled for complete occupation of the eastern Luhansk region. Luhansk Governor Serhi Haidai said Russia’s air strikes in the city of Lisichansk had destroyed TV towers and bridges.
