Washington: US President Joe Biden has raised his hand in dealing with rising gas prices.

Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo has acknowledged that there is not much left for the White House to do to tackle high gas prices. Gas prices have risen since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and things do not seem to be improving in the future.

Speaking to reporters, Secretary Gina Raimondo said the unfortunately terrible truth is that President Joe Biden is left with no way out when it comes to high gas prices.

He said, “You know that russian president Vladimir Putin’s attack has created a crisis. The price of gas has risen by $1.40 a gallon since Putin entered Ukraine with his troops.

OTTAWA: To reiterate Canada’s support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity with international partners, Canadian Foreign Affairs minister will go on a 5-day tour to Germany and France.

Mélanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs, on Wednesday said that she will travel to Germany and France on February 17 and to return back on February 22.

In a statement she said, “Canada must stand up and work with its allies to prevent their deterioration. Russia’s aggression and destabilizing activities in and around Ukraine are deeply concerning and Canada will continue to engage with partners and allies to pursue a diplomatic resolution to the ongoing crisis.”

She said that in Germany, the Minister will attend the Munich Security Conference, the world’s largest conference on security. There, she will reinforce Canada’s key foreign policy priorities, including our unwavering support to NATO and Ukraine. She will meet with Canada’s partners and allies to discuss efforts to resolve the current crisis in Ukraine diplomatically and the swift, severe consequences Russia will face should the Russian military further invade Ukraine.

Similarly, in France, the Minister will meet with French Foreign Minister Le Drian, to discuss their work to ensure the stability and security of Ukraine. She will also attend an EU-sponsored forum on cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.
