New Delhi: The Supreme Court has reserved its verdict on the bail plea of Ashish Mishra, son of Union Minister Ajay Mishra, in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case.

The case was heard today in a bench of Justice Surya Kant and Justice JK Maheshwari. In the previous hearing, the trial judge had said in the report that it would take at least five years to complete the trial of the case.

During the hearing held today, Mukul Rohatgi on behalf of Ashish Mishra said that he has been in jail for a year. Bail was granted once but was rejected by the Supreme Court.

The trial will take more than five years. They should be given bail. Rohatgi said that the trial court itself has said that the trial will last for 5 years. There are 218 witnesses, 27 FSL reports and even cases. Overall, the trial can take 7 to 8 years.

His council said that the location of the mobile phone is also the same. Ashish was not in the driving seat and another co-accused was seen coming out of the vehicle.
