Chandigarh: The Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (HSGMC) has taken over the control of Gurdwara Dasvi Patachi in Sirsa under the Aegis of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) following the Supreme Court’s decision to retain the recognition of the Haryana Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (HSGMC).

Talking to media persons on the occasion, Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (HSGMC) President Jathedar Baljit Singh Daduwal said that the management of gurdwaras in Haryana will now be done by the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee.

Hw urged SGPC to gracefully handover possession of all gurdwaras to them after apex court’s order and asked them to not file a review petition to challange the orders.

No employee working in gurdwaras here will be removed. The work of management the gurdwaras will be done by taking everyone along. Prakash Singh Sahuwala, president of the Committee of Gurdwara Dasvi Patachi, was also present on the occasion.

Amritsar: In a fresh decision, SGPC management has decided that candidate with a criminal record will not be allowed to participate in its elections.

The SGPC is also considering to reduce the age of voters from 21 to 18 years for the elections.

Therefore, The Chief Commissioner of Punjab Government Gurdwara Elections Surinder Singh Saron has been allotted an office in Sector-17 as well as special security has been given to him.

Regarding these elections, he says he will recommend to the central government for these changes, as the rule will be implemented only after getting the centre’s nod.

He said that last time the SGPC elections were held in 2011. This time preparations for the said elections have been started.

Both Central and state government is gearing up for the SGPC this time and polls would witness the interesting contests.

Amritsar: The SGPC’s interim committee will install a portrait of Balvinder Singh Jatana in the Central Sikh Museum today.

Balwinder Singh Jatana was mentioned a few days ago in Sidhu Moosewala’s last song SYL.

Talking to the media after the meeting of the interim committee the chairman of the committee Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami informed about it.

Meanwhile, a resolution was passed in the interim committee accusing the Congress of defaming the Shiromani Akali Dal during the last five years by levelling false allegations in sacrilege cases. The Congress has been asked to publicly apologise in this regard.

He said a recent report made public has revealed that there was no involvement of the Shiromani Akali Dal in the sacrilege case. Meanwhile, the SGPC has decided to send the holy Saroop of Guru Granth Sahib abroad by chartered flight as per the demand received from abroad.

Amritsar: Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has decided to install portrait of suicide bomber Dilawar Singh, who killed former Punjab chief minister Beant Singh, at the Central Sikh Museum inside the Golden Temple tomorrow.

Conforming the development, Sulakhan Singh, the manager of the Harmandir Sahib said that the portrait will be installed during a special ceremony by SGPC on Tuesday here.

The move came days after Kamaldeep Kaur sister of Balwant Singh Rajoana, was fielded as candidate from the Sangrur bypoll by Shiromani Akali Dal Badal, which controls SGPC.

Dilawar Singh, former Punjab police, had tied a belt of explosives around his waist and killed CM Beant Singh and 16 others at the Punjab Civil Secretariat on August 31, 1995.

The Akal Takht had declared Dilawar Singh as ‘Qaumi Shaheed’ (martyr of the community) in 2012.

AMRITSAR: Reacting to the statement given by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said that the government should not interfere in the affairs of Guru’s house.

He said that the SGPC is an elected representatives body of the Sikh Panth, which is constantly working for the management of Gurdwaras as well as for the flourishing and propagation of the faith.

The SGPC President said that the CM Mann should pay attention to his government works and should not indulge in politics over religion.

“Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann talked about broadcasting of Gurbani Kirtan but the SGPC has already constituted a body in this regard to start its own channel for broadcasting of live Gurbani Kirtan from Golden Temple Amritsar,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Akal Takht has directed the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) to launch its own channel to telecast Gurbani Kirtan Live from Golden Temple than giving rights to only channel.

Lambi: Former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal has questioned the intention of the Aam Aadmi Party and cautioned people to stay vigil to protect communal harmony of the state.

Amritsar: Following objection from the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC),’Jashan-e-Bahar’ event was cancelled by Pakistan authorities, which was going to be held from March 23 to 27 near Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara.

SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami had objected to the event citing religious sentiments that it is against maryada’ (code of conduct) of the religious place and urged Pakistan to cancel the event.

Considering this, they cancelled the programme at once and also informed the SGPC, the apex religious body of the Sikhs, media reports said.
