New Delhi: The Central government today clarified that corona RT-PCR negative test reports are not only mandatory for passengers coming from China, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand and South Korea, but also for passengers on flights coming through these countries from other countries. In this regard, the Health Ministry has written a letter to the Union Civil Aviation Authorities.

In a letter to Secretary Rajiv Bansal, Lav Agarwal, Additional Secretary in the Health Ministry, has made it clear that passengers travelling to the above-mentioned high-risk countries will also have to upload the RT-PCR report of corona on the air facility portal 72 hours before travel, even if the passengers belong to any other country and have to travel to another place.

The Health Ministry said that corona tests of two percent of the passengers coming from any country at airports across the country will continue as before. China, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand and Japan continue to see a steady rise in covid-19 cases, prompting the revised guidelines to take precautions against the spread of the virus, the ministry said.

The government has also announced that from April 26 all workers can return to their workplace and doing away with checking people’s vaccination statuses at most places, the government said.

New Delhi: Reacting sharply over remarks made by the Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong in Parliament, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has summoned Singapore’s envoy to India – Simon Wong in the matter.

Sources said that “remarks by the Singapore Prime Minister were uncalled for”.

Addressing Singapore’s Parliament on Wednesday had invoked Nehru to argue how democracy should work during a parliamentary debate.

Lashing out at Union government for summoning Singapore envoy, Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor said, “Most unseemly for MEA to summon the HC of a friendly country like Singapore over some remarks by their PM to their own Parliament. He was making a general (and largely accurate) point. Given the stuff our own politicians utter, we must learn to be less thin-skinned!”

He further said that We should have handled the matter with a statement saying “we heard with interest the PM’s remarks. But we don’t comment on other countries’ internal matters, nor on debates in foreign Parliaments, and urge everyone to follow the same principle.” Far more effective and less offensive.
