Chandigarh: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of The Punjab Police, probing the 2015 Kotkapura firing case, has filed a 7,000-page charge sheet in the court of JMIC Ajaypal Singh in Faridkot.

The SIT team led by SIT chief ADGP LK Yadav and SSP Bathinda Gulneet Singh Khurana has filed the charge sheet in the Faridkot court.

The government had assured the Behbal Insaaf Morcha of action by February 28. The investigation report of the Kotkapura firing case, led by IG Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, was canceled in April 2021. After this, the government was ordered to set up a new SIT and investigate afresh.

Sources said in the charge sheet, investigation team named former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal, Sukhbir Singh Badal, then DGP Gurmeet Saini, IG Paramraj Umranangal, SSP Charanjit Sharma, former Akali MLA Mantar Singh Brar.
