Chandigarh: An encounter broke out between gangsters and police at Bassi Pathana in Fatehgarh Sahib on Wednesday.

According to the information received, 3 gangsters have been killed in the encounter. The two gangsters have been identified as Manpreet Pita and Teja Mahindpuria. The identity of the third is yet to be ascertained.

Gangster Teja Singh has more than 40 criminal cases registered against him. The team was led by AGTF chief Pramod Ban. He claimed that the gangsters were also involved in the Phillaur incident.

The gangsters were roaming around in Thar. The area has been cordoned off and residents have been advised to stay indoors.

SI Gurpreet Singh and constable Sukhraj were injured, sources said. It is learnt that gangster Teja was lodged in Bathinda jail and came out on bail in November last year.
