Toronto: In a new twist in the case of a cocaine dealer, the judge found that $6,000 had been stolen by Toronto police from the cash recovered from a dealer’s weston road apartment.

In a release, Judge Anders Schrack said he was surprised that the money had been stolen by one or more of the investigating police officers. Meanwhile, Defense Lawyer Kim Schofield said that in this case, only the justice system has acted the way it should have done because nothing else has worked.

Toronto police officers raided Andrew Rocha’s apartment on February 6, 2019. They recovered $19,390 in cash and half a kilo of cocaine. Rocha later said there was no trace of $6,000 in cash between the raid on his residence to the transportation of the money to the police station.

Schofield said the amount of cash with which the photos were taken by police officers at Rocha’s home was large, but the bundles that reached the police station were relatively small.

The judge has also not confirmed how much money is missing. But he did admit that close to $6,000 is missing after a comparative study of the photos. Schofield is taking an important step like contacting Toronto’s police professional standards unit to investigate the matter.
