Karachi: At least 28 people were killed and 26 others injured in two separate road accidents in Pakistan’s Sindh province today, police said. The first accident took place on the Multan-Sakhar motorway (M-5) in Sindh, killing 20 people and injuring six, local administration officials said.

Multan Deputy Commissioner Tahir Wattoo said a bus was on its way to Karachi from Lahore today. The bus collided with an oil tanker near Sakhar.

After the collision, both the vehicles caught fire, due to which 20 people were burnt alive and six others were injured. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has expressed grief over the incident.

The second accident took place near the highway connecting Karachi with the rest of the country. According to the information, when a vehicle was coming from Swat to Karachi, due to loss of balance, the vehicle fell into a ditch, due to which eight people were killed and 20 others were injured.

An official associated with ngo Edhi Centre said the dead included four women and two children. The injured were admitted to a hospital, where the condition of some of the injured is said to be critical.
