New Delhi: President Vladimir Putin on Thursday announced a military operation in Ukraine and he warned other nations to not interfere with the Russian action, otherwise it would lead to “consequences they have never seen.”

Following Putin’s announcement, explosions were heard in Kyiv, Kharkiv and other areas of Ukraine.

Earlier, Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an emotional address to countrymen called for peace on Wednesday late night amid imminent threat of a attack from Russia.

Hours after declaring a nationwide emergency, Zelenskyy said he tried to call Russian President Vladimir Putin but Kremlin remained silent.

Meanwhile, many countries including US and Canada is backing the Ukraine and asked Russia’s invasion unlawful to provoke violence.

“Spent some time with @AlexChyczij and the @UkrCanCongress today. We spoke about the situation in Ukraine, and I let them know that Canada will continue to be there for the people of Ukraine. Our support for them – and their right to determine their own future – will never waver,” Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau tweeted on Thursday.
