Vancouver: Burnaby RCMP is asking for public assistance in identifying either of two suspect pickup trucks involved in the theft of a $100,000 Bobcat loader.

On  November 30, 2025, two pickup trucks, one hauling an empty flat deck trailer, arrived in the area of Midlawn Drive and Westlawn Drive in the Brentwood area of North Burnaby. A short time later, the same two pickup trucks left the area, this time with a stolen Bobcat loader, worth approximately $100,000, was on the flat deck trailer.

“This is more than an inconvenience to the owner. This is a hundred-thousand-dollar theft.” said Cpl. Mike Kalanj with the Burnaby RCMP. “If you recognize either of the suspect vehicles or have any knowledge of this incident, our investigators would like to hear from you.”

Suspect truck 1 is believed to be a Chevy Silverado, Black tonneau cover, distinct silver or grey gas door on the driver’s side while the lower part of the truck’s body was a lighter color and towing a flat deck trailer. Suspect truck 2 included Red pickup truck and is  believed to be a Ford Ranger.

Police are asking anyone,  that can identify either suspect vehicle or has any information that can assist their investigators, to  contact Burnaby RCMP.

Vancouver : The new recruits patrolling the Lower Mainland are four-legged and already making their presence felt — bringing sharp noses, serious instincts and an undeniable dose of charm to the fight against crime. They are Police Service Dogs (PSD)  Shelby, Sammy and Sultan, who have been offering all possible help to  fight against crime in the Lower Mainland since this fall.

They’ve completed their training at the RCMP Police Dog Service Training Centre (PDSTC) in Innisfail, Alberta and have joined the Lower Mainland District Integrated Police Dog Service (LMD IPDS). These three dogs have all been named starting with the letter ‘S’ because they were born in 2023. Each year, the RCMP PDSTC in Innisfail, Alberta names the puppies beginning with the same letter. PDSTC also holds the Name the Puppy contest for children across the country to help name these potential police dogs.

LMD IPDS is responsible for supporting frontline policing, with police dog teams, across the region. They serve the 28 municipalities policed by the RCMP and six municipal policing partners in Surrey, Abbotsford, Delta, New Westminster, Port Moody and West Vancouver.

PSD Sultan and Cst. Corey Braddick have been working together since the very beginning of Sultan’s career. Cst. Braddick started raising Sultan as a young puppy and now they’ve completed their training. The pair had their first shift in October. Sultan’s working profile is frontline duty and explosives detection.  PSD Sammy and Cst. Dave Dolan started in the LMD in October and work in the frontline duty and explosives detection profile.

PSD Shelby and Cst. Alexandra Bourque had their first shift in September. Shelby’s working profile is frontline duty and explosives detection. Shelby carries a legacy of bravery and service as he was named after Constable Shelby Patton, who was killed in the line of duty in Saskatchewan in 2021.

To get to this stage, all three Constables spent several years in the ‘quarrying’ and ‘imprinting’ process, raising and training puppies before they went off to PDSTC, RCMP release stated,

Vancouver : In what appears to be the fallout of crackdown on international students and other Non Permanent (PR)  residents, Canada has witnessed largest drop in its population in the recent quarter. The decline is likely to increase more in coming days as Government authorities are further tightening  immigration.

As per Statics Canada estimates released on Wednesday, population decreased by 76,068 people (-0.2%) over the third quarter of 2025 and reached   at 41.6 million  from earlier figure of 41.65 million of 1 July.   Statistics Canada’s Demographic Estimates Program—show that the population decrease was mainly due to a drop in non-permanent residents and changing government policies concerning international migration.

In the third quarter of 2023, Canada’s quarterly population growth was 1.0% with 418,634 residents were added  while in the third quarter of 2024, the population increased by 231,803 residents.  As per preliminary estimates, Ontario (-0.4%) and British Columbia (-0.3%) have seen   the largest population decrease in the third quarter of 2025, followed by Manitoba and the Northwest Territories (both -0.2%).

While talking to TV Punjab, some local businessmen said that government must facilitate the quick immigration of skilled labor.

“Government should tightened the immigration to prevent the entry of criminals in Canada. But simultaneously it must also take required steps to ensure the availability of skilled labor to businesses as skilled labor is the backbone of economy” he said.

Figures show that On October 1, 2025, there were 2.8 million non-permanent residents in Canada  and it was   6.8% of the total population. But earlier the number was 3 million in  July 1, 2025  and that was 7.3% of the total population. The higher   outflows 339,505 caused by various reasons  than  arrivals of  163,026  ,  seems to have contributed largely in the  decrease  of   population.

VANCOUVER – March 5^th, 2022

The Vancouver Canucks beat the New York Islanders 4-3 on Thursday night in the new UBS arena, home of the islanders. The game was an intense one as action was back and forth, both teams had the lead at one point in the game but ultimately the Canucks came out on top with the victory.

With this win the Canucks put themselves back into the playoff race and keep their hopes alive still. If the Canucks can pull off a victory tonight against the Toronto Maple Leafs, in the Scotia Bank arena, that will put them one point back of a playoff spot.

Injury report – Defensemen Tucker Poolman, Kyle Burroughs and forward Jason Dickinson all remain on injured reserve (IR), but Burroughs season might be over due to his injury but is still unclear because he is pending further evaluation and could be placed on long term injured reserve (LTIR). As for the other two, a likely return is bound for at least Poolman as he has been out the longest and is the closest to getting healthy according to head coach Bruce Boudreau.

As of now there are still no new trade rumors, only the ones I have talked about previously and are circulating in the media.

In some positive news, but instead for the leafs, forward and Toronto native Wayne Simmonds will be playing his 1,000^th NHL game tonight at home when they take on the Canucks.

VANCOUVER – February 22nd,2022

The Vancouver Canucks played their last makeup game of the “Olympic break” last night with a 5-2 win over the Seattle Kraken. It was a good game for the Canucks as everyone played exceptional from the top players down. Last Saturday was an embarrassing loss for the Canucks at the hands of the Anaheim Ducks so this Seattle game was a big one, a must win.

The Canucks wrap up a 3-game home stand on Thursday when they play the Calgary Flames. After this homestand they go on the road for 4 games when they go play the New Jersey Devils, New York Rangers and Islanders and finally the Toronto Maple Leafs. After that road trip however, the Canucks come back for a long 7 games at home over a 2-week period.

During a game against the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday night, February 19^th, defensemen Kyle Burroughs was injured on a hit from behind into the boards by a Ducks forward. Burroughs seemed to be favoring his rib area during the play and after the game it was leaked that Burroughs might have fractured or even broken a couple of his ribs. Burroughs was also seen wearing a shoulder brace the following day so there’s speculation within the media that it could be both a shoulder and rib injury which would most likely cost the defensemen the rest of this season.

In other positive news the Canucks returned to full capacity on their home games on Saturday against the Ducks and will continue to do so until further notice. Most of the Canucks remaining games will also be played at home.

Vancouver: December 17th, 2021 – Big news in Vancouver as Rogers arena, the home of the Canucks, gets its capacity limits of fans reduced to only 50% with the increase of Covid cases and Omicron variant spreads in B.C. recently. Provincial Health Officer of British Columbia Dr Bonnie Henry announced these restrictions today for places holding more than 1000 people at a time, on Friday morning.

The Vancouver Canucks also announced Tyler Motte has tested positive for Covid 19 and is on the Covid 19 protocol list. The Canucks are up to 5 players on the list along with assistant coach Jason King. Canucks’ next game is at home against the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Maple Leafs just added 2 players to the Covid 19 protocol list themselves, they have no other players on the list. If further positive test results come back from either team on Saturday before the game, it could possibly be postponed.

With other more positive news, the Canucks grabbed their 6^th straight win under new head coach Bruce Boudreau. Boudreau is now tied for 2^nd all-time with 6 other coaches with the most consecutive wins to start a tenure with a new team. This comes as a huge surprise because of how poorly the Canucks were playing before the firings. The Maple Leafs are at top of their division and superstar Austin Matthews has been playing lights out as of recently so the next game will be a huge test for this resilient bunch from Vancouver. If the Canucks can grab another win Boudreau will tie the record of most wins by a coach to start a tenure with a team at 7.

During last night’s game with the San Jose Sharks, the Canucks had an injury on the backend as new call up Guillaume Brisebois was injured in the second period. This is the 3^rd game out of the 6 wins that the Canucks have gone down to 5 defensemen in just the 2^nd period, making this win streak that much more impressive.

The Canucks also made more front office moves, they announced Thursday evening that they have made Canucks legend Stan Smyl vice president of hockey operations, he will be working under Jim Rutherford, the president of hockey operations in day-to-day tasks. The general manager spot is still vacant as of now still and no time timetable on when there will be a new name announced.
