Ottawa: Heavy snowfall in Canada’s west coast since Thursday morning has affected normal life as well as air and sea transport services.

More than half of the flights were canceled from Vancouver Airport today and almost all ferry services (sea voyages) were canceled. The staff associated with both the services are being brought under emergency circumstances and more work is being taken from them so that people can be saved from inconvenience due to traffic being affected.

Vancouver Airport has deployed three times more people and machines than usual to remove snow from the runway, and the equipment installed there has also been deployed to prevent it from being affected by the snowfall.

Transport Canada has appealed to people to get information about their flight or ferry schedule before leaving their homes, so that they can avoid trouble.

The Meteorological Department has reported more snowfall tonight, to which all the departments have started more preparations to deal with it.

Many municipalities are beginning to feel a shortage of snow-melting salt and the staff removing snow from the roads have to work continuously. According to the Meteorological Department, decades-old records of snow falling here in the last days of February have been broken.
