Taliban’s increasing restrictions on women in Afghanistan, G7 Ministers condemn

Ottawa: Following various restrictions imposed on women by Taliban government in Afghanistan including rights to education, work and freedom of movement and restrictions on unaccompanied travel among others, G7 foreign ministers including Canada jointly condemned Afghanistan government.

Issuing a joint statement, Australia, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Republic of Korea, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom, United States, condemned Taliban’s action against women.

“We remain deeply concerned by the continued restrictions on girls’ access to education in Afghanistan, and call on the Taliban to respect the right to education and adhere to their commitments to reopen schools for all female students,” the statement read.

They are deeply disappointed about escalating restrictions imposed by the Taliban that impact the human rights of Afghan women, the G7 foreign ministers gave a joint statement.
