Brampton: The City of Brampton has launched its first-ever Community Safety Action Plan.

Brampton is a healthy and safe city. Together with its partners, City is striving to achieve the goal of a strong and interconnected community where every member of the community feels safe, connected to it, and all the needs of everyone can be met. In this action plan, three areas have been identified that need to be given the most attention and these are safety, awareness and empowerment. The special initiatives to be taken under these will be implemented from 2022 to 2027.

With the implementation of this plan, the safety concerns of the residents will be removed, they will be able to connect more closely with the community and will be able to make a significant contribution to the safety and well-being of their neighborhood. Along with this, residents will also be able to connect closely with community networks and service providers.

The city’s Community Safety and Well-Being Office will be internally connected with all city departments to develop a Community Safety Action Plan and was further informed by:

• Town hall meetings

• Resident meetings

• A Citizen Advisory Committee Strategy Session

• City Council interviews

• Staff and external partner engagement

• Data from more than 1800 residents through the Nurturing Neighbourhoods Program

• A robust community participation phase following release of the draft, which included over 330 interactions.
