New Delhi: Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday said that farmers are being ‘attacked’ by the government for some time to suppress their voices.

He said that there is “dictatorship” in India now with politicians not being allowed to visit Uttar Pradesh to meet the families of the victims of the Lakhimpur Kheri incident.

“We will try to visit Lakhimpur Kheri with two CMs today to meet families of victims. If the Union Minister’s son has not been arrested today, Congress will carry out march and coerce ruling BJP government to take action into this heinous crime,” he said.

Punjab chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi, who returned from Delhi after meeting Union minister Amit Shah, has been called to Delhi again by the high command as he will along with Chattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel, Rajasthan deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot and other senior leaders will be accompanying Gandhi to Lakhimpur, sources said.
