Chandigarh : Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi said on Wednesday that there was no Security lapse during the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the bordering town.

Channi, while addressing the media said that sensing his rally a floor event as the BJP had placed 70, 000 chairs but only managed to gather 700 people to attend the rally, party blamed it on state government making it a security issue.

“PM had suddenly changed his plan to go by road to Ferozepur and Punjab government had no idea about it neither the centre shared it with us and all the events happened simultaneously. It was a condemnable event and protestors should not have stopped his convoy but there was no security lapse,” CM said.

Modi, who landed in Bathinda and had to take the road route to Hussainiwala in Ferozepur because of the inclement weather, was stuck on a flyover for 15-20 minutes due to blockade by some protesters, an incident the Union Home Ministry described as a “major lapse” in his security.
