Threat to lives of Dera followers in Punjab, security beefed up

Chandigarh: After the murder of Dera follower Pradeep Singh in Kotkapura, Punjab Police has now received inputs of threat to the lives of many other Dera followers.

Sensing the sensitivity of the matter, the police department has immediately increased the security of many Dera follower. Apart from beefing up the security of Dera followers lodged in various jails of Punjab, police personnel have also been deployed outside the some of prominent dera followers’ house.

According to information received from sources, Punjab Police has received some important inputs from intelligence. The police have also started keeping an eye on people coming to meet Dera follower by changing their strategy. However, records of criminal persons released on bail or out of police custody, including gangsters lodged in jails, have been collected by the police.

Pradeep Singh murder case: 5 killers, 1 helper arrested

In the Bargari sacrilege case accused Dera follower Pradeep Singh murder case, the Special Cell of Delhi Police had arrested three shooters named Jitender Jeetu, including two minors from Rohtak and Bhiwani in Haryana, from Bakshikhana in Patiala.

On November 17, the Punjab Police conducted a joint operation and arrested two shooters Manpreet alias Mani and Bhupinder alias Goldy from Hoshiarpur. Apart from these, Baljit Manna, son of a sub-inspector posted in Bathinda, accused of staying the shooters and other types of help, has also been arrested.
