New Delhi: Airfares from Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata to Patna have registered a three-fold increase ahead of the festive season. On October 22, the ticket for a flight from Delhi to Patna was Rs 14,000, while the airfare from Mumbai to Patna reached Rs 20,000. Patna’s current fare from these two places is higher than the rate from Delhi to Sharjah, which is Rs 11,000.
The current ticket from Delhi to Bangkok is priced at Rs 10,500 and Delhi to Singapore is priced at Rs 13,000. Air tickets from Kolkata to Patna have been increased to Rs 10,500.
Airline companies are taking advantage of the flexible fare policy during the season. Experts believe that this boom can continue. Air tickets from cities like Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Surat etc. have also increased.
One of the biggest reasons for the increase in airfares is the shortage of train tickets. The waiting lists in trains are too high and Tatkal tickets are also not available.
Meanwhile, the Northern Railway has decided to run 32 additional mail and express trains to Patna, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Jai Nagar, Kishanganj, Katihar, Barauni (Begusarai) to give some relief to the passengers. Authorities claim to run a total of 211 trains till Chhath Puja. The trains will start from Jammu, Amritsar, Ferozepur, Delhi, Bhiwani and Pathankot.
