Three Indian-Americans die after falling into frozen lake in Arizona, US

Washington: In a tragic incident, three Indian nationals, including a woman, died in the state of Arizona. They fell while walking on the frozen lake.

The incident took place at 3:35 pm on December 26 at Woods Canyon Lake in Coconino County, Arizona.

The missing persons have been identified as Narayan Muddana,49, and Gokul Mediseti, 47, local officials said. The woman has been identified as Harita Muddana (age unknown). All three are residents of Chandler, Arizona and are originally from India.

Officials said they were soon able to pull Haritha out of the water and made all efforts to rescue her but failed, then she died on the spot. The authorities then launched a search for Narayan and Medisetti, who had fallen into the lake. The bodies of the two youths were found on Tuesday afternoon. Now all three bodies have been recovered.

Over 20,000 flights cancelled

Many states of the US are facing the brunt of snowstorms these days. According to media reports, about 20,000 flights have been canceled since the snowstorm started wreaking havoc in the US on December 22.

The US Department of Transportation (DoT) said it was “concerned by reports of unacceptable rates of flight cancellations in the Southwest and a lack of customer service”.
