Nawanshahr: Three members of the Punjab Students’ Union (PSU) were on Tuesday arrested by the Nawanshahr police in connection with a case of vandalism on pictures of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann at a mohalla clinic in Khatkar Kalan.
The students had smeared black paint on the chief minister’s photo in protest against the removal of Bhagat Singh’s photographs from the clinic.
An FIR has been registered against three students named and 5-7 unidentified persons under section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of ipc and section 3 of Punjab Property Defacement Ordinance Act at Police Station Sadar Banga.
The three arrested students are Baljit Singh Dharamkot, Kamaljit Singh Malupota and Raju Barnala. Baljit Singh was arrested from outside his college, while Kamaljit Singh and Raju were arrested from their home.
