Toronto: The charges against the man whose wife died in hospital last week have been upgraded to first-degree murder by Toronto police on Monday. The woman is said to have died due to a violent incident that took place in September.
On September 25, after 3:00 a.m., police officers were called to Gamma Street and Valermo Drive. Police found a woman injured on the roadside. The woman was taken to the hospital through an emergency run.
At the beginning of the investigation, police arrested 48-year-old Antonio Zollerano. Several charges were slapped against him including a case of attempt to murder. The injured woman, identified as 43-year-old Katherine Zollerano, succumbed to her injuries on November 2, investigators said. As a result, Antonio Zollerano will face first-degree murder charges, police said.
Toronto police also confirmed that the two were husband and wife. Antonio Zollerano will be produced before court on Tuesday.
