New Delhi: Two people died due to the Influenza virus H3N2. One person each lost his life in Haryana and Karnataka.
According to reports, an 82-year-old man in Hassan, Karnataka is the first person in the country to die due to H3N2
There have been about 90 cases of H3N2 virus in the country. Eight cases of H1N1 virus have also been reported. Flu cases have been on the rise in the country in the last few months.
Most of the infections are caused by the H3N2 virus, also known as the ‘Hong Kong flu’. This virus is more potent than other influenza sub-variants in the country.
Only H3N2 and H1N1 infections have been detected in India so far. Both of them have Covid-like symptoms, which have infected millions of people worldwide. Two years after the pandemic, rising flu cases have caused concern among people.
According to experts, both viruses are highly contagious and spread through coughing, sneezing and close contact with an infected person.
Doctors have advised regular hand washing and wearing masks. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has urged citizens to try to cover the mouth and nose while sneezing and coughing
